To carry the 'shallow materialism' theme forward: It would really suck to be born on Christmas. You'd get half as many presents!

I think I must be one of the easiest person to buy for because I collect many things that are cheapish to buy - rubber ducks, thimbles, black cat figurines, glass figurines etc but my family and friends still seem to have a problem with buying for me because I prefer them to surprise me.
if they can't buy me one of my collectibles I wish people would buy me books off my Amazon Wishlist but they all seem to be really wary of buying things online so they tend to just give me money to buy the books myself.
So instead I have started to ask them to donate to my favourite charity which means them giving me cash and then watching me donating the equivalent to the charity online.
