So what if First Contact looks dated (doesn't to me, btw)? The Voyage Home just screams 1980s at you at the top of its lungs, and it's still very entertaining. The looks of the effects or whatever don't make a blip of a difference as far as the usability of the plot for a remake is concerned.

2. Even if it were the nu-1071-D, where is there any indication of the ship's scale? After all, the Vengeance bridge is the same size as the nu-E's, but the ship is clearly bigger. And, one would expect more compactness in 70+ years of design evolution. Why wouldn't a 24th century starship have about 5 people on the bridge?

Well, it was the same size as all the other Enterprise Ds when they started popping in. I would think an Abramsverse Enterprise D would drastically dwarf the whole group of them.

How can you tell that every ship in this picture is the same size?

NO!!!!!!!!! Go back to Star Trek's roots, "to seek out NEW life and NEW civilizations", to FINALLY go where NO Trek has gone before.

I think that doing a single Abramsverse movie with the Borg as the main antagonist wouldn't do them justice. They need at least an entire arc on a TV show.

I would honestly be curious to see a contemporary, rebooted take on the Borg.

Voted "no" because I'd like to see a new villain.

Wormhole said something back-Thread that made me think, couldn't/shouldn't at least part of the story be about Cochrane and the develpmental and scientific run-up to warp drive? Cromwell and Woodard are still in the game, and, as was said, this will be the 50th of TOS, not the others. I did search and read this thread, apologies if someone already thought of this and I missed it.

The challenges and failures of Warp Drive and the political and economic intrugue and shenanigans that would inevitibly rise from its pursiut could be 'The Enemy" Also, Cochrane could be the tortured genius "own enemy".

some of the ST Online Borg concept art looks like it could come from a future 'Art of Star Trek Resistance/Invasion/Resurrection' (or whatever they would call Trek 3 if it were a Borg movie)

Khan, please don't hotlink images from websites which do not belong to you. Using someone else's bandwidth to post pictures here is considered bad internet etiquette. What you want to do instead is get an image-sharing account at Photobucket, Imgur, or an equivalent, so that you can host copies of the pictures for posting.

The thing I would absolutely hate about it, is not necessarily the borg, although it would bother me since yes the timeline in Trek has been changed for that region of the alpha quadrant over the last 30 years or so. But why the hell would the Borg now be there at that point in the timeline?

Secondly and most importantly, we would get yet ANOTHER antagonist who are in command of an unbeatable, overpowered gigantic space ship. And I just think the unstoppable foe is the worst, most generic and one dimensional type of villain a writer could create. It's something that is thought up in grade 5 creative writing classes. I honestly have no idea why people like it, it's the cheapest way to create drama and stakes known to a writer.

I don't like nuTrek for more than a mindless popcorn flick, but I at least want them to attempt to create 3 dimensional characters, and interesting multi layered dramatic elements.

No Borg, thanks. Maybe in a few films' time. I'd prefer something a bit more low-key now. Maybe the Ent crew get caught up in dangerous political intrigue on an alien planet....

Like that's gonna happen :wtf:

I doubt too many people care about such a scenario on a big screen, tent pole film.
