Favorite Starship from the Franchise?

3enterprisessmall.jpg

I love all 3. I think if I had to rank just those three it would be:

1. 1701-A (my favorite overall)
2. 1701 JJ
3. 1701 TOS

I think JJ's Enterprise is very cool except for one angle. Third from the top in King Daniel's earlier post. Something off about that for me. Can't put my finger on it:

I'm just thankful that we're now on a new page. So that we are not subjected to scrolling past multiple images of the USS Pizzacutter.

Maybe this would be everybody's opinion if the 4FT had come first, maybe not, who knows, it's just bizarre that the MORE DETAILED model is treated as something of a blasphemy by fandom *shrug*
The "fat four footer" looks bad because the detail is overdone and actually destroys the scale. It makes the ship look smaller, not bigger.

This. It looks like a toy.

TMP Refit/Enterprise-A - perfect proportions from every angle, a million times better than TOS Enterprise all day long for me. I never cared for the spindly original at all. Blasphemy to a lot of people on here but I've had this opinion for 35 years and it's never changed.

TMP/TUC Klingon Battlecruiser - Just a mean looking badass ship and a great design.

Enterprise-E - Had elements of the Refit/A merged with Voyager. Looked amazing from some angles, not so good from others, but always looked like it wasn't to be messed with.

D'deridex Romulan Warbird - Unusual, interesting design and colour and it's sheer size made it looked so imposing whenever they appeared in TNG.

The Enterprise D & B, Excelsior, Reliant, Klingon BoP, Voyager, and the warbirds from Nemesis are all jostling for 5th place, all good designs in their own right but don't challenge these top 4 for a place in my heart.

I liked the USS Prometheus from Voyager's "Message in a Bottle". It was some sort of experimental design and was able to split up into multiple ships and then come back together using Multi Vector Assault Mode. The Bridge looks brand new, clean, and untouched. It has a sleek modern design.

I think the Jem'Hadar fighters look awesome with their purple and blue beams (that creepily match the skintone of the Vorta).

The Borg Cubes from First Contact / Voyager.

And any Romulan Warbird.

I think my biggest problem with the Abrams Enterprise was the (empty tube of toothpase) secondary hull and the curvy TNG warp struts, while great on Enterprise D, they just look wrong and tacked on in Abrams ship. However, if you replace the secondary hull and warp struts only, while keeping everything else the same, the Abrams ship looks really interesting. Quite COOL in fact!

Fun to play with ideas ;)

It is.

I've often wondered what a computer would do with different design evolution--as in that TED talk about nozzles for UNILEVER (the power of evolution), or here with the evolving chair project:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/bruceup...ure-of-manufacturing-as-told-in-four-objects/

It took a chair and made it look like a North Sea oil rig
http://www.thelivingnewyork.com/

He was bought out by autodesk.

What might be nice is to have the TOS, then the refit, and then let the computer figure out the next step--ignoring the Excelsior say.

I'd love to see what the result would be...

From TOS, the Enterprise, of course (limited choices, to be fair)
From the TOS movies, the refit, without a doubt
From TNG, I'm going to go with the Akira, as it was a part of the TNG-era movies
From DS9, it's a toss-up between the Defiant and Centaur
From Voyager, I'll pick the Prometheus
From Enterprise, despite my love for the Akira, my infatuation does not extend to the NX. While a decent design, definitely not one of my favs. From a design POV, I can't say that I'm really all that inspired by any Starfleet vessels, so I'm going with the Andorian Kumari. Now THAT was a bad-ass ship.
And from the Abramsverse, I think I'll go with the Vengeance, although I do really like all the background ships. Still really dislike the JJprise, though.

I think that about covers it.

The "Phase II" version of the Enterprise is rocketing up my list thanks to Shaw of the Trek Art forum!
Wow, thanks!

Well, the original Enterprise will always be my first love (33 inch model first, 11 foot model second)... but Jefferies' Phase II Enterprise comes in close behind it.

This design would have made much more sense for the movies, essentially the TOS hull with new engines. As much as I love the TMP refit, it always bothered me that there really wasn't anything recognizable left over from the original design.
