Star Wars Episode 7 title revealed - "The Force Awakens"

Don't think I care for the lack of episode VII in the title, though. It should still be there. It better be in the opening crawl.

Terrible title.

I wonder if JJ had anything to do with it. Sounds like something he would come up with.

Star Wars: Episode 8 - The Force has Morning Wood

Star Wars: Episode 9 - The Force Tries to Wipe that Gunk Out of its Eyes by Splashing Some Water in its Face

And the spin-off:

Star Wars: Origins - The Rise of Darth Ambien

The beginning of the opening crawl:

It's a dark time for the New Republic. But then the suns came up and the alarm went off, so the Force Awakens.

I'm having a bad feeling that "The Force Awakens" will entail a ridiculous alteration to the Star Wars mythos.

I take you meaning--leaving off with the state of things in Return of the Jedi, what happened to the Force that it needs awakening in the near future?

I read this earlier. Not a big fan of the title, but it might grow on me.

LucasFilm confirmed that it will be.

I figured this was happening. The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi were advertised by those titles alone. The Episode numbers were only in the opening scrolls.

It made sense of the prequels to be advertised differently. Those were in production along time before titles were decided and was a way to denote those were prequels.

Right. Well, plus the words "Star Wars". For example, TESB was put in a box whose border had Star Wars. ROTJ wasn't all that dissimilar.

I remember those logos from having posters in my bedroom as a little kid. It was not until my preteen years I really noticed the Episode numbers in scrolls and understood the roman numerals and starting wondering about "earlier movies". I probably had no idea what a "prequel" was until later.

So at some point after having been restored to it's proper balance, the Force went to sleep?

I guess all that surrounding, penetrating and binding can get a bit exhausting.

^ Points!

Look, the PT is garbage from end to end, but there's nothing inherently wrong with "TPM" as a title. It's actually kind of poetic.

... But "The Force Awakens"? WTF?! :barf:
