I might be wrong about this, but I think you might start the log once you are in system, not before.

I was wondering about that as well...;)

I'll give it a shot....

EDIT: No dice - as they used to say in the 50s/60s - even when I do the combatlog in the system.

/combatlog 1 just turns on combat logging for your current gaming session, so typing it once every time you start playing is enough to log every single shot you fire (both ground and space) for the entire session.

I'm not sure why you cannot find the log file. Perhaps you have several different copies of STO installed? I know I have at least 7 or 8 different copies of the game... I have the old stand alone launcher (itself has 3 versions... Live, Beta and Playtest), the Arc launcher (honestly I don't know where it installed its version of STO), and finally I recently installed the Steam version of the stand alone launcher (also containing Live, Beta and Playtest versions). So depending on which version of the game you launch, the log file is in a different folder.

I believe its a matter of finding the right version of the game client. You'll know its the correct folder when it contains some of these files:
Clientservercomm.log
CombatLog.log
Crash.log
Netcrc.log
Objectlog.log
Overlappingregions.log
Pcl.log
Shutdown.log
Vivox.log
Voicechat.log

Alright, let me try this again...and I'll post my results. I'm logging into my Steam account now.

I have two versions of STO: Arc and Steam. However, I may delete one in the future.

EDIT:

Alright, a bit of success!

I actually downloaded the ACT parser this time and used Steam instead of ARC... and watched a tutorial on Youtube to get me started. I did the Starbase 237 again and came up with these stats:

*Duration of battle was just around 4 min.

*Damage from me was 760, 428, from 'them' was 294, 604
*EncDPS from me was 3,140.97, from 'them' was 1,216.87
*EncHPS from me was 991.68, from 'them' was 202.87
*Damage taken by me was 237, 812, and by 'them' was 817, 220

I'm still a bit lost since I'm still learning what all this means...haha

Grats! So your dps is at least 3.1k, possibly a little more. The reason why I say a little more is because ACT always under report the dps number. None of the ACT scripts I know of are able to parse certain sources of damage such as pets, exotic damage, mines, certain torpedos, etc...).

I don't want to diss ACT, but I've had 3-4 different ACT scripts for parsing STO combat logs and they give quite different dps numbers for the exact same combat log file. So I don't really find it trust worthy. The good news is if you can get ACT to work, you should now be able to get CombatLogReader to work as well. That's the most up-to-date parser I know of and most of the community is using it.

I was able to get CombatLog Reader to work with Steam yesterday or the day before. ;)

I did the Mirror mission and found out my damage out was 815, 657...DPS: 2, 573.051. The Colony mission, to see my ground DPS, was: 135.743 from 19, 004 damage.

Just something i noticed in the mirror universe event;

when you get the mirror dreadnought turn up in the cut scene it says that it can generate its own rifts. - but closing the existing rifts trap it

How can that be if it generates its own rifts?

^^^
Presumably, it can create its own short-range entry rifts, but not exit ones. It apparently needs an existing rift to jump to, but I do agree it's strange it can't just jump back to the Mirror Universe. Then again, that's not surprising as most captains in STO seem intent on going down with the ship rather than surrendering...

Normal and advanced NPCs are getting another HP nerf.

Actually, they have a new lead contend designer. And not only will there be another HP nerf, queues will be needed, too! Bye bye fail conditions.
Rewards will be adjusted: more marks, dilithium, r&d mats, etc.
game will become a joke again and elite possibly the only content interesting enough to play.
I ended up in a Viscous Cycle Elite run yesterday by accident. I was holding my own and the oonly thing stopping us was the bug causing a fail.
and I am nowhere near maxing out my ship and specializations yet.
I fear even the new elite will not be any more challenging than the old, once we have a full endgame set up again.

Probably becuase they finding out AGAIN that much like every other game in existence, the hardcore uber dps "badasses" are a minority.

I just did Azure Nebula Advanced for the first time.

Boy did we get served...

Adaptation skill of my team? nearly zero.

There was just one escort being clever enough to free the romulan ships.

The rest just went in there in their fancy lockbox ships and got massacred.

Those Tholians are not there to be blown up. While on normal it is easier to go in there alone and kill them to free the Romulan ships undisturbed, on Advanced teamwork is important again!
And one of each team should be a good tank!!! Shocking, I know!!!
Tank keeps Tholians busy, while escort, sci or even intel saves Roms..

There's always two sides to the story. On one side, I agree with you. I've seen players who just go around destroying mirror ships and don't close rifts in mirror invasion. On the flip side, I also know you get nothing for completing Azure Nebula without causing a certain amount of damage (Cryptic's afker penalty).

Okay, there is a little trick I discovered on Nukara Prime. I wonder how many people know about it:

When a toon is closing the Tholian rifts, that toon and all characters on the map are affected. If one rift is closed by one toon, it affects the count for another toon.

I found that I can just close one rift, and if the map is pretty full, my completion goal is taken care of since there are other toons closing rifts as well. I'm then just focusing on 'thinning the hive' or freeing 'redshirts.'

Plus XP has kind of dried up for the moment and people are trying to level up where ever.

That may be so, but "completing" the mission with two T'Liss and one Dhelan rescuedpretty much equals nothing as well. And as it turned out, most of them proved incapable of tanking the Tholians. Didn't take long for them to blow up before barely scratching them.
And the minimum damage dealt to get reqards is not that high...
pretty sure, killing one or two ships will do the trick.
Anyway, won,t bother again until after the patch, when the NPCs get nerfed (sigh) and the reward fixed.
Atm the mission only gives out normal difficulty reward.

I believe that only works if you've run around and aggroed tholians that are linked to the rifts.

So the Mirror Invasion has been stopped because the Advanced queue was giving out 7200 dilithium for completing it. Why is there no public system announcement for it?

Maybe.

But I usually just have to do 'one' then find a corner (or return to base) and wait until others close the rifts for me.

A good time saver I think...;)

Holy hell..... I haven't played STO in over a year, so I figured, let's check it out again....

I have 9870mb worth of patches......

Since I haven't played in ages, I'm considering starting over again. It's been so long, I'm not really sure aymore what to start with. Escort or Cruiser, which class of character.... Does anyone have some helpfull tips to get me started again?
