If you could change one thing in history....

Eh, for what it's worth. Even if they did, other people probably would have decided not to copy it and much of it would still likely be lost.

Religious congregations of the 17th and 18th century kept very well their archives and those papers are now part of the Archives Nationales.
Still, they should have written more, even about insignificant things

Oh, very cool. Did not know that.

I would go back in time, with patents to Windows, the Mac, smart phones and paypal, etc.

Then convince NASA to go with a modular Energiya Buran type STS

Id convince NASA to build an moon base. Just like on TV show space 1999.

How would you convince them? The tech, cost, and problems would all be the same.

"I come from the future."

"Oh right so there are moon bases that work in the future?"

"Uhh.."

Well, he could always lie. It's not like anybody would know right then.

...I'd locate the one single weasel that humanity evolved from and stuff it into a blender.

I have so many to list, but here they are.

Stop the Mongol horde from entering Russland.

Stop the spread of the Turks from slowly taking over territory in the Byzantine Empire.

Help the Coptic Christians during the middle ages

TP Oliver Cromwell who was anti-Catholic and anti-Irish before the start of the English Civil War.

TP Lenin, Trotsky, and Stalin or enforce American involvement in the Russian Civil War.

TP Napoleon for breaking up the Holy Roman Empire.

I think you mean Oliver Cromwell. Which is why time travel is a bad idea. People are going to travel back in time and kill the wrong person due to poor memory.

I don't know, time traveling back to stop James Cromwell during the English Civil War could be an interesting reboot of First Contact. ;)

I guess I'm going back to stop one of his sons.:eek:

Pulling something out of a hat....stopping the Fourth Crusade! I'd like to see Constantinople in its prime, before the Europeans sacked it, breaking the back of the Byzantines so that they fell prey to the Turks and company. St. Sophia must have been gob-smacking inside before all the icons, statuary, etc. were carted away as plunder or destroyed as idolatrous.

If not that, then preventing the Civil War, because nothing good came from that. Slavery's death doesn't count, considering how badly it was done, and how quickly the Union dropped the ball on transforming the freedmen into citizens. The way poor whites and blacks live in some parts of the South today, you would think the war only ended last week.
