What are you watching???

I finished a first watch of Avatar: The Last Airbender yesterday. It took be a bit less than a month, mostly because I slowed down my viewing near the end because I didn't want it to end. It was glorious, one of the best shows (of either animation or live action) ever. Maybe not my #1 favorite, but really high up there. The story and characters were all amazing, and there were really only one or two weak episodes, and even then they generally had good stuff in them. I plan to start The Legend of Korra today, if its even 1/10th as good as Avatar it will be a good watch.

Prepare to not be disappointed.

Honestly, I should have been prepared for soul crushing disappointment :sigh: I just watched the first two episodes of The Legend of Korra. I won't go into too much detail (this really isn't the thread for it) but basically the setting is horrible (a 1920s New York style city makes no damn sense with how the world was in Avatar, even if they have skipped about 70 years) and the characters aren't compelling at all (much less the idiotic sport subplot). I'll keep watching, but mostly just to hope we see Aang in spirit form or flashback. I can't believe that anyone who worked on Avatar had anything to do with this, its just such a huge downgrade in quality.

Finally got around to watching the Joss Whedon version of "Much Ado About Nothing" last night. (Thank you, public library system.)

Very enjoyable and nicely done.

Sorry it wasn't for you.

I really liked the Korra episodes that I saw. The evolution of the Avatar world felt authentic and Korra's Scooby gang really grew on me, especially going into the second "book."

I can see your point on the bending sport portions. It wasn't for everyone, certainly, and probably too much of the first season was devoted to it, but I still found the sports stuff interesting enough.

I'll give it some more time. Maybe it will grow on me. The setting is just really off putting, and the "country person is a fish out of water in the big city" stuff is almost always irritating to me anyway. It feels like one of those old, bad fantasy movies where they'd transport some ancient hero to the modern day. The world of Avatar just doesn't fit with 1920s New York for me. Its like if they made a sequel to LoTR, and Frodo was shown texting Sam on his new Iphone. Hopefully some of the characters develop well and take my mind off the setting. I did like Aang's son, and Korra wasn't bad, she was just going through familiar cliches I'm not a huge fan of. The second episode was a bit better than the first, so hopefully it gets good enough to overcome the stuff I don't like.

Last night's Good Wife.

"Damn your Old Spice all to hell!"

I love Elsbeth. Florrick/Agos, just hire her already!

A few things I watched in the last two(?) days:

*Young Ones w/Michael Shannon, Nicholas Hoult, Elle Fanning, and Kodi Smith-McPhee. (5/10)
*Space Station (5/10)
*Doctor Who (7.6/10)

Using her sparingly, similar to TNG with Q, is part of why she is awesome.

Although now that the actress has escaped from the filthy murder brothel that is True Blood, she has to find a new project to facilitate her mortgage's apt completion.

Night of Dark Shadows--"Introducing Kate Jackson."

I visited the mansion where this was filmed many, many years ago. To my surprise, I still recognized some of the rooms.

Watched "Gotham" last night.

An episode about goats and a Pee-Wee Herman-like guy who calls himself Oswald Cobblepot.
