A lack of superheroes/villains in Agent Carter would be...strange.

It will definitely have a few like Whitehall and I brought it up in the AoS thread but I have a feeling that alien Dum Dugan unveiled in this seasons first episode will get blown up and stored in an underground facility (which Coulson and his team will later get blown up).

^In the first film, people at home probably didn't believe their was a superhero running about. They probably thought he was nothing more but a symbol to kids that the war is going well. There's definitely a lot of footage of him hitting Hittler(s) to help distort the truth. Even when a soldier returns home and says he was saved by Captain America, I bet people either didn't take it seriously or took it as Captain America Bonds saved me.
Hitting Hitler was part of the Captain America USO show complete with goofy costume and chorus line. After he saves the Howlers from Hydra and dons a proper uniform he's a real hero. He was probably in the newsreels, on the the radio and in the newspapers being interviewed about his exploits like any other hero of note.

I'm saying it all could have been taken as propaganda since superheroes don't (or didn't) exist.

You're applying modern sentiment. People in the forties would not have thought the government or the media was lying to them or manipulating the truth for the most part.

There were actual nonsensical ads during the 40s. Giant dogs, mini-Hittlers, and flying carpets can make Captain America look like a spectacle for the kids.

The montage from the movie was also a depiction of the comic books actual purpose at the time as well. The punching Hitler thing was straight from one of the most famous covers of the time.

And don't forget Movietown News shorts.

^Roswell, 1947.

Are you that bald guy from that X-files episode?

You know Roswell wasn't even a "thing" until 1979?

I'm avoiding the Avengers:AoU thread to not get too spoiled but the trailer is out, making it part of this threads rules. If it's not posted over there yet and you do post in that thread, share it.

Well, concept art, not film footage. I'm sure it'll look pretty close to that, but it's still worth being clear.

Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange rumor is back.

I'm disappointed in two ways. First, Cumberbatch seems like the obvious choice. Second, I really hoped for race-blind, even gender-blind, casting for Dr. Strange; there's nothing about the character that demands a white guy in the title role, and I could envision Ken Watanabe or Tilda Swinton as Dr. Strange.

Whilst loving Samuel L. as Fury (who doesn't ?), I'd rather they didn't change too many characters from their comics versions. Admittedly my mental images of the characters is stuck over two decades ago when I drifted away from comics, but I want to see 'those' heroes.

There's obviously a disproportional amount of white male characters in the comics but that can be addressed in the films easily enough. Only a fairly small number of the characters will make it into the movies - just ensure that the next ones chosen have more variety.

^Though I liked the original Nick Fury in the comics, the Ultimates version (what the movie is based on) is pretty badass.

Since Fury was based on a badass movie star, it made sense to upgrade which badass movie star he was.

Wouldn't it be a little weird having Tilda Swinton play a character named Stephen?
