NFL 2014-2015 Season Discussion

I've seen the "Tomlin problems" for years now. Lack of discipline... penalties out the ass... turnovers, mismanaging the clock at the end of halves and games... and now, the inability of the Offense to adjust and score in the second half. Not sure why they brought him in. He was a defense guy and he can't hold a candle to Lebeau so exactly what does he bring to the table? I think ownership was being two politically correct. There were two coaches inhouse that should have been selected before hiring Tomlin. He's all sound-bite and no bark.

He was given a Cadillac and now it's a Ford Pinto.

Well, he's just not a very good coach.

Read here.

I hope you aren't insinuating something.
When Tomlin was winning it was all about what a great coach he was, now that he is losing, it is all about race.

Yeah, I'm insinuating something.

Then you're a dumb ass.

Anyone that knows anything about the Steelers knows it wasn't all about Tomlin when they were winning.
So, you thought he was unqualified and incompetent because of his race back then too?

The thing about the Tomlin hire that's interesting is how well Bruce Arians has worked out in Arizona. He was Pitt's OC of course and actually got along with Ben. Arians was more or less pushed out at Pitt, or at least that's how the media read the situation. It was a little bit odd.

Tomlin fits the bill - a young DC who shot up the ranks, but he is no Cowher. Still, the problems are broader and deeper than Tomlin. They've had a number of players get old at the same time and they've simply not replaced them with equivalents. It's hard to do when you win two Super Bowls.

Yep. They spent a few years in cap hell, and they've been good enough to not have a really great draft position for several years. They've also had some really awful contracts to deal with, which has limited roster flexibility -- and that's on the front office, not the coaching staff.

Even more bandwagon whiplash this week for New England. Fans are going to spend the week deciphering the mixed messages of yesterday's game. They lost two of their key players for the season, but they won, but it was by the skin of their teeth against a terrible team at home.

As a Dolphins fan watching last night's game and trying to figure out what team to root for was like trying to pick which one of your pets you want to throw in the woodchipper.

I was fervently hoping it would end in a 0-0 tie that would somehow be counted as a loss for both teams.

The Raiders used to be an AFC power. To see what has happened to them in recent years is a little bit sad.

It's been sad since post 2002 Super Bowl. Still think Firing Hue Jackson was a huge mistake, but the new GM wanted his own guy. Felt like going back to square one.

Yeah, and I felt like, based on what I remember, that Tom Cable had them at least playing reasonably solid fundamentals. They've been a mess from the top down for a long time, the antithesis of the NYG and Pittsburgh, really.

There are multiple reports that the Bears' locker room was full of fights, to the point that players were being pulled out of the room by others, following today's loss.

Starting to think Trestman's seat might be heating up.

When a team loses cohesion that badly, they are in real trouble. :(

It's certainly a sign that the coaching staff is losing the locker room, which doesn't bode well for the remainder of the season. It's not terribly surprising to me; Trestman bounced around from team to team for like a decade, and then decided to go to the CFL (where he lucked out in having probably the greatest QB who never played in the NFL) -- it's a pattern that really screams "massive personality issues." I was impressed with how he turned shit into gold with McCown last year, but I'm getting more and more disillusioned. Cutler isn't the problem with that team.
