Here are a few of my more recent uploads (taken over the summer, but I have a huge backlog of photos):
Thanks! At some point I'll try counting the hours I spent in the city taking pictures this summer ... but it's nice to know that I was able to get a few good shots out of the time and effort I put into it.
Should I go back there again, I shall remember to get you some Apple Pie Moonshine. Thank you! Not bad for a little 2 MP camera, eh? Nope, no bears this time. I did see a bear when we were traveling down from the Smokies, but my camera wasn't ready.
Just 2 MP? I need to stop complaining about my Android camera. That's impressive for such comparatively low resolution.
I've missed a few pages up in here. I'm loving the scenic pics various posters posed. Mariner I love how you make NYC just shine. J I loved your pics too. It makes me think of the painted backdrops they used for Kendra Province of Bajor.
I did notice the motion blur at the bottom of the images. The thing is, though, the rest of the image is so captivating that the motion blur becomes more like the "out of focus" effect you sometimes get in photos (which lets you concentrate on the best part of the image). Either way, nicely done! Getting shots like that is a blast!
Thank you! I've got some pics here, as I've been digging through my archive, and they're random, but I figured I'd toss them up anyway. This was a bluegrass band playing in Pigeon Forge from 2013: This was the place next to our hotel. Apparently, their work force is very small. This picture was from 2008. It's the Woolum, KY post office, or was for many decades. I don't think it's used anymore. I know about it because some of my extended family ran this post office for many years. A picture of our fireplace that we had in our old apartment back in 2008. Always two there are... No more, no less. This is me in 2009 (I'm the guy in the red shirt sipping on the Pepsi). I didn't realize how much weight I've lost until I saw this picture. At the time of this picture, I weighed about 270 lbs. I currently weigh 210. Alas, most of that weight appears to be from the hair loss.
Yep! My sister-in-law had to make reservations a year in advance to get her that day. The kids had a blast, though.
Thanks Pondwater! My semi-weekly pilgrimage into the city has been something of a labor of love. And I'm glad that, at least on some level, I've been able to capture the spirit of the city enough for others to enjoy! That's a really great set, J.! And this one, in particular, I love. There's just something about the "everyday" look of it that you've really managed to capture. Nicely done! And congrats on the weight loss. I've been on something of a diet/workout program myself for the past month and it sure as heck ain't easy (especially when your family takes you out for dinner for your birthday and the fries they order smell so damned good! ).
