Horrible science
Anything beyond the fact that there isn't a creature growing inside the moon?![]()
Damn. When I watch Doctor Who, I expect total verisimilitude in the portrayal of NASA's technical specs.Well, the shuttle couldn't go to the moon...nor is there an airlock in the payload bay...nor could the payload bay be pressurized nor could the people on the moon see all the lights on earth since the moon doesn't revolve around the Earth that quickly (and if it was a new moon then they'd be SOL because the moon would be facing the day side of the Earth).
Well it's not too far off the specs of Ranger 1, which looked exactly like a Space Shuttle except that it could fly through open space, land and take off without being taken apart and oiled/cleaned and put back together again.
Same here. The moment the idea was presented, I immediately thought of New Frontier. I didn't think of abortion until I saw this thread and it still seems like a huge stretch. The abortion analogy really doesn't work.
Honestly, I thought the episode was riffing on the ending of Peter David's Star Trek: New Frontier "pilot," where the Great Bird of the Galaxy has been incubating inside the planet Thallon. The abortion angle didn't even occur to me.
I've mostly given up on Clara TBH. She was introduced as a plot device which dragged on throughout the entire season while adding very little to her character. She was just the attractive, perky one. And her hair is always way too perfect. Symbolic of the series' direction as a whole, really; emphasis on the looks rather than the content.I dislike Clara more every episode though
She was certainly a more believable character! With some fine tuning, I can see her working as a companion - although then the series would go a bit Sarah-Janeish, wouldn't it?I preferred Courtney as a companion in this episode to Clara.

Nonsense. The Fourth Doctor NEVER said either outright or by suggestion that Sarah Jane was old, fat, and ugly. Those are three things he's said several times to Clara.I still keep thinking that the 12th Doctor acts a lot like the 4th Doctor. Just a bit older and grumpier. He treats Clara about as badly as he treated Sarah Jane, dispite being his best friend.
Eh, Courtney's the same basic age as Ace (as well as Nyssa and Adric were also supposed to about 15/16).She was certainly a more believable character! With some fine tuning, I can see her working as a companion - although then the series would go a bit Sarah-Janeish, wouldn't it?
I loved the Sarah Jane Adventures, but I wouldn't want the main show to go that way.

Plus, if he does go back for Journey Blue, it could be Journey and Courtney
