The WONDERFUL things in life

We had the best summer weather we've had in years, and September is continuing the trend. Blue skies and sunshine yet again.

^Never cared for them too much either. I don't understand their appeal.

Krispy Kremes are way too sweet for me. My teeth hurt just thinking about them.

The best donuts I ever had were made in my hometown by an independent shop. Sadly, it's long gone.

Are you talking about the store bought ones or a freshly made one? Because if you're talking about their freshly made donuts, I will find you, and thrash you.

Best. Donuts. Evar.

Buy a can of Pillsbury biscuits. Take them out, poke a hole into the middle of each biscuit.

Fry them in a couple inches of light cooking oil in a skillet a couple minutes each side. Drain each side on paper towel.

Dust with powdered sugar or roll in shallow dish of sugar and cinnamon.

You then will be the maker of the best donuts you've ever had - a fun relatively fast thing to try on a morning you don't have to work.

I never tried that, and I do enjoy Pillsbury biscuits.

My mother used to do that sometimes, early in the morning, before the sibs and I would walk the 3 or 4 blocks to the neighborhood school. Sometimes in the dark. That was the mid to late 60s. ;)

Now that I think about it, when I was in jr. high the cafeteria would make these enormous (to me) glazed donuts. You could get as many as you wanted for a nickel each, but I think two was all I could handle. That was the early 70s.

I need cheering up too!

I'm thankful my dad is alive and is in relatively good health.

Old TV sitcoms, Star Trek, good food, red wine, COFFEE. The smell of Autumn where I live. I spent about 12 hours outside yesterday just reading. Oh... BOOKS and reading. ;)
