Z-Nation Can't be for Real?

Near the end there were Longplay machines that could turn a 3 hour tape into a 6 hour tape, or superlongplay machines that could turn a 3 hour tape into a 9 hour tape.

But there could have been other differences between PAL and NTSC players that I was not aware of. The world was carved up along lines of influence decided upon and enforced by the Illuminati, and I'm not sure which side of those lines you were living on when these things mattered.

You're in a weird place.

There are no more video players left, and dvrs still too expensive.

I already figured that out since you are talking about real time viewings.

Like Bernie Mac talking to America, I think I was talking directly to 2014 as if it was a person.
My problem isn't the DVRs so much as the fact the only way I can find to get one is either digital cable, or Tivo and I can't afford either of those on a monthly basis.

That's what I said.

DVRs are expensive.

On the other hand, I see everything, on the other side of the world, no expense required.

I often fantasize about hundreds of police officers circling my house, issuing orders through a megaphone that I cease, desist and then submit to prison, but then I Chuck Norris everyone and become the King of the country.

Sweet Baby James, they asked The Asylum to make a series?!?!?

As I was watching it I thought to myself they made the "Syfy Original Movie" version of The Walking Dead and I guess I was right. I've mentioned for years that Syfy should try this but it may be too late now, they waited until the complete saturation point.

^^ Yeah, I think the Zombie Apocalypse has peaked.

This was exactly like any other Asylum production, down to the chaotic editing, clumsy post-production overdubs, Tourette's-like dialogue, and bland color palette. I was going to write the whole thing off right up until the very end, when Garth from Supernatural transmogrified from "Northern Lights" to "Radio Free Zombie" or whatever he called himself. If that's a regular part of the format of the series, it's just bizarre enough to keep me watching for one or two more episodes at least.

Aside from that, the idea of needing to transport Citizen Z to California does give the show a direction beyond mere survival, which is a point in its favor. And the fact that this ragtag group decided they must take up Harold Perrineau's mission makes them admirable, and hopefully likeable. And that mysterious sniper character is intriguing. I just don't know if I can tolerate Asylum production standards in a weekly series.

If Garth is expensive and they are Cheap... They could have gotten him to film 6 years worth of bookends in a couple days like they did with the kids in How I Met Your Mother.

I thought the production values were actually pretty decent, or at least good enough for a weekly TV series. The problem is their complete inability to make any of this remotely scary or believable.

Hell, even straight up comedies like Zombieland or Shaun of the Dead do a better job building up suspense and making us give a shit about their characters.

Not in terms of originality, since WD already added that particular element last season.

How is Northern Lights different from John Connor at Crystal Peak?

Meanwhile Northern Lights is one of the codenames for The Machine in Person of Interest.

Yeah, but that's probably a Red Herring and it's not intrinsic to the show's format.

His radio personality should be DJ Qualls. :)
That would be funny. :rommie:

Also did the cured guy pull his tooth out because he was hit in the mouth or because finally after 3 years, he is turning into Zombie?

I'm pretty sure the implication was the "cure" was either wearing off or just slowed the infection tremendously or something.

That's what I was thinking as well. It'll be fun to see when the guy goes total zombie while they're in the truck.

So while I haven't watched the show, does it at least look like it realistically takes place across the United States? Because the whole show was filmed in my neck of the woods up here in Washington State.

I'm actually pretty curious bout this show I might give it a look when it shows up on streaming.
