A damn shame this was never made. Although I'm genuinely curious how Shane was going to reconcile the 1701-A as having 78 decks.

There are crew member from East Asia, so no deck numbers including the number 4 (4, 14, 24, 34, etc).

People from European descent, so no number 13.

There might be Afghans, no number 39.

Now figure in all the various peoples from other planets and their cultures, and it's not hard to get a deck 78.

Hoping he is well, also, and I second that the updated Mr. Scott's would have been nifty. The original was my first Trek tech manual.

Hopefully he would be pleased were he to know of the STID reference, not to mention that at least one guy is referencing him heavily in a Star Wars related project.

(I am attempting to document the Star Wars technology inflationism that began online in the late 90s (shortly after his Star Wars tech manual came out). His kiloton proton torpedoes and titanium fighter armor obviously come from before such inflationism began, and his work has effectively been vindicated in recent years. But that's another topic for another time.)

Well, 'cept Spock picks up Kirk at 13, so so much for the triskaidekaphobics. Other labels seen are 10, 35, 52, 63, 64, 65, 77, and 78.

I am a huge fan of Mr. Scott's Guide (my first copy came apart and I had to buy another!) and was thrilled a few years ago to come across Worlds of the Federation and The Next Generation Technical Journal in a thrift store. I'm also a fan of his unlicensed Trek, the Star Fleet Uniform Recognition Manual (I'm guessing he really disliked TMP, ignoring those costumes in both MSGttE and here) and the Weapons Manual (which covered Star Trek, Star Wars, Space: 1999 and Battlestar Galactica)
