So now every time I see a T6 science ship I'm going to start humming Ode to Vengeance.

Also I want that new Klingon Battlecruiser.

After reading about the Delta Rising Operations Pack, I now understand why Cryptic chose to add a new bridge officer type - Intelligence. Over the past 3-4 years, Cryptic's main source of income in STO has been starships. And they have had increasing difficulty coming out with newer and better starships that did not step on the toes of the current ships.

The recent Galaxy class revamp is the perfect example. Players have been clamoring for a souped up Galaxy class. Cryptic wants to give players a souped up Galaxy class to increase sales. Instead, Cryptic could only give minor upgrades to the Galaxy because any big changes to the BOFF seatings would end up being too similar with another cruiser's BOFF seating - a big no-no as far as Cryptic is concerned.

Hence the Intelligence class. And with the new BOFF type, it looks like Cryptic has added a new starship design rule for T6 ships: The Cmdr. station can either follow the ship type (Cmdr Tac for escorts, Cmdr Eng for cruisers, Cmdr Sci for science vessels) OR the Cmdr. station can now be Intelligence (possibly with the condition that the Lt. Cmdr seat having to obey the ship type).

For example, we can have a T6 Galaxy cruiser that has a Cmdr Intel, Lt Cmdr Eng, Lt Sci, Lt Universal, Ensign Tac. With the simple addition of a new bridge officer type and this new design rule, it opens up so many new combinations of possible T6 starships. This is very cost effective from a game design perspective, even a brilliant stroke of genius.

Interesting first mission. I shot The Doctor and Ensign Kim; I really wanted to shoot Neelix instead. :(

The Scryer is such a nonsensical design. Starting with the Oberth and then the Odyssey, I'll never quite get the obsession of having a big hole in the middle of the ship. (and that explanation that it helps with warp "aerodynamics" is just one big excuse to have the hole)

I also like that, in the link, two ship classes are hidden for the big mystery, but the scrolling menu on top has the ships (and ship names!) fully visible.

The pictures at the Top are just concept Art. The final ships might look worse.

I really hope that the guardian class will allow a galaxy class reskin to finally allow a good perfoming galaxy ship. The guardian itself looks lackluster.

All the fed ships are vomit inducing ugly. They don't say Federation at all and remind me of some of the terrible original designs they launched with.

I like the raptor ok but never play KDF anymore, so meh.

    Overdesign syndrome at it's finest.

Those special consoles all seem to be explode enemy ship buttons. I expect heavy nerfs at some point after the sale.

I am sure there will be more T6 ships down the line an hopefully more appealing ones.

I only fear those initial ones will pollute earth orbit to the point where you see hardly anything else.

I Can agree with that, although the undine NPCs in that mission seemed too easy to defeat. have they dumbed them down or something?!
They have done a really nice job with the voyager interior, nice touch when you in the captains chair and the center console opens up.

Just completed a run on the new Borg Disconnected, bit differnet, attacking borg, undine and both all at once, while trying to save borg ships with disconnected drones.
At the end you have to defeat a borg diamond, undine dreadnought and both city ship, the group i was in cleared the borg, and undine but ran out of time on the voth when it only had 2% hull left.

When completed it gives you a choice of marks, and interestingly enough at the bottom of the list is 'delta quadrant marks', so once can assume this will be the delta rising rep.

I'm not actually a gamer so you'll have to bare with me.

On YouTube there are thousands upon thousands of clips from STO, some lasting over an hour. My brother played the game when it first came out as I am interested in the 30+ year time jump and how things have developed in the Star Trek universe.

Many elements such as Borg, DS9, Breen, many planets and even elements not seen since TOS like the Guardian of Forever and Deep Space Station K7 are featured; now there are even guest star much like how TNG-ENT episodes welcomed guests from other shows. What triggered me asking was the whole Delta Rising thing. I know Worf has featured in an 'episode' called Sphere of Influence

Buried in all the search results on YouTube are there videos where you can kind of watch the game like a TV show - I know it won't be perfect as that's not what STO is about; it's a different format, but I've kind of watched from afar so I know bits and pieces.

It might be that they're not actually Starfleet vessels, but rather Section 31 vessels ("Intelligence" vessels). The Scryer in particular looks a bit evocative of the Vengeance. Out of the new ships, only the Guardian (at least its outline) says Federation, and it's extremely different from the other three.

Can anyone post a link to a YouTube channel they recommend to watch the STO episodes?
    Really appreciate any help.

Outside of the S31 boner some of the Devs have this doesn't make much sense.
Section 31 spearheading an expedition into the Delta Quadrant would run contrary to their objective of staying in the shadows mostly.
There is no deniability in fielding entirely new ships.
Even for the official Starfleet Intelligence it would be kind of odd to put specialized ships like that to the front.
Stationing a couple of Intelligence Officers on board makes sense.
But otherwise there shouldn't even be any Intelligence ships in any official capacity.
they are sort of the real world analogue of black, unmarked helicopters.

    Anyway.

Personally I've decided that I certainly will not buy any of them.

I will wait for iconic T6 ships which they will kind of have to do at some point because they know, half their customer base despises their original designs.

And from an economic stand point it makes sense to sell the ugly ships first no one would go for if there were a choice between ugly cryptic ship and iconic star trek ship.

While I agree entirely, Into Darkness kinda blew all of that out of the water. The Vengeance wasn't just a new ship, but probably the largest Earth ship ever built, so it wasn't discreet to begin with. Plus, the movie (and many novels, to be fair) don't seem to quite understand that S31 is supposed to be covert of the highest order; Marcus was going to send a distress call to frame the Enterprise... from his supersized dreadnought.

Anyway, it's just a theory on my part, and only then to explain just how drastic Starfleet designs have gotten in this particular universe.

I think it's as good a rationalization as any! S31 could have pushed designs like these and have people with enough rank to see them deployed the way they want, and staffed with enough of their own people to guide things they way they want in the Delta Quadrant. Doesn't require being out in the open.

So Delta Rising is supposed to take players primarily to the area that Voyager explored "after it left the Nekrit Expanse". Yet it looks like the Kazon, Ocampa, and the Automated Personnel Units will be among the mainstay NPC species. That makes no sense to me. All those species live in areas from Seasons 1 to 3 of Star Trek: Voyager. Voyager left the Nekrit Expanse in Season 3 and jumped 9,500 light years because of Kes in Season 4: "The Gift". I smell shoddy decision-making.

If this took place 5 years after Voyager, I'd agree, but since it's been 30 years, I could see a lot of movement of species over the years. Also, if I remembered correctly, the Vaadwaur sunspace corridors went somewhat close to Talax. So perhaps those will be used as part of navigating the Delta Quadrant.

I believe we see the Vaadwaur home world on the first sector we arrive in, and you visit the Northwest Passage. Of course, New Talax is also there, so it's kind of a mix of different years. The devs do seen to have forgotten that Voyager was working its way toward the Alpha Quadrant, not hanging around the same area all the time.

Poor Harry Kim must be really annoyed, after 7 years in the delta quadrant was still an ensign.
Now after all these years he has made the rank of captain (36 years?), just before everyone else become fleet admirals, and new recruits are admirals within a few weeks.

He really does't have much luck with promotions does he.
