Would a subbranch of Airbending involve Gravity or Force Bending in anyway?

How might Gravity or Force Bending shape a futuristic fantasy world like that of Avatar's far far future?

I don't see why. Those are completely unrelated things.

If by "Force" you mean fundamental forces of nature, lightning-bending would be the control of electromagnetism to an extent.

    Based on the Faustino/Varney interview...

It looks like Korra will step back from being the avatar until she either finds a new resolve or is forced to step up again because of whatever threat is playing out. How this ends though remains a mystery. Whatever happens, it's been said that she ends up in a good place.

I'm really just spitballing based on the fact that 1.) Zaheer could fly (ala Superman) and 2.) I don't know how "Airbending" works.

1.) Zaheer didn't appear to be manipulating wind or air currents in order to fly, he appeared to be negating gravity somehow. A sort of counter-grav (Which made me think Honor Harrington's Tech from David Weber's Honorverse)

2.) Not knowing how Airbending works, are they generating "air currents or wind movement" ala Firebenders or only manipulating them ala Waterbenders?

Would Airbenders be impotent in a Vacuum, or could they somehow manipulate it in other ways?

I literally lack the terminology to express this with any scientific accuracy, but here goes...

My first guess was that they could manipulate unseen forces somehow to move the "Air" ala a "Force" of somekind but thinking it through and realizing that "air" is in fact a substance composed of various gasses I'm guessing they just manipulate the gasses itself.

If that's the case though, how does that work when there's a change in Standard Temperature and Pressure?

Water Benders can create ice like it's going out of style and change phase states at the drop of a hat. We know that Lava Bending is basically doing the same thing with earth?

So when air changes phase states would the Airbender lose control of the gases they were manipulating if say the gas condensed into a solid form, or could they say for example manipulate high-energy plasma?

I'm basically taking your idea of the Avatar Universe in the Far Future and trying to imagine the repercussions of a Fantasy/Magic based Technologically advanced Space Age FTL capable (maybe) type society, and how Bending might continue to be refined and specialized.

Would we have Airbenders who have somehow sub-specialized to work with Warp Plasma for example or Firebenders tending Cold-Fusion Power plants? Metal bending Engineers, Firebending Electrical Engineering specialists? Waterbending Brain Surgeons or Geneticists?

Hopefully you see where I'm going. Thoughts?

^ Happens to all of us at some point. I don't have anything to add but I've wondered about how bending affects state changes and whatnot. Things can get pretty tangled if you think about it.

In other news, I found an article about Kuvira potentially being a season 4 villain.

    The Article

And here's a clip that apparently includes a quick scene or two from Book 4...

    Look out for Kuvira.

Good to see that the rest of the episodes will get a TV airing after all. I wonder if Season 4 will premiere on NickToons?

Glad to hear that Season Four's production will be entirely unaffected by their semi-cancellation!

Ah, looks like several people already know what I just saw while watching A:tLA on NickToons a few minutes ago.

That's me, always late to the party, and not in a fashionable sense, either.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

If Book 4 does air on Nicktoons, I really hope they still post the episodes online. I still only have basic cable, so I don't get Nicktoons.

Given how strongly the episodes have reportedly performed online, I don't see any reason they'd stop releasing them there.

I was really hoping to hear thoughts on putting the world of Avatar into a future-tech era. Hopefully it's an idea that the creators haven't completely discounted.

I'm in favor of it. If Balance is the last season I say take some years off, make a TV movie that deals with Zuko's mother and a bridge between TLA and Korra (I know there are comic books, I want a movie). Then go into the future, or even present day tech. However I'm not sure how that would work, but I'd love to see them try.
