I know it was supposed to be a serious line and all dramatic, but when Shatner's voice switches between 'vaguely angry' and 'voice-cracking like a boy going through puberty' it's just hilarious.YOU WILL OBEY MY ORDERS!!!!
The way I interpreted it, it was saying that Starfleet captains have no room for women or romance in their lives, because they devote everything to their careers. This episode introduced the Federation rule that women could not captain a starship.
Maybe it's just because all the other Treks had 'wrap up' series finales, but, Turnabout Intruder feels very...strange.It's hilarious, but it's also prefectly protrays the absurdity that Lester thought she could get away with it. There's a reason she washed out of the academy.
This is an interesting link of Shatner on the Mike Douglas show shortly after filming Turnabout Intruder in which he talks about the episode:

This is a hidden gem of an interview! Shatner knows how to handle a live audience.
How's this for a challenge? The basic concept in spocks brain isn't bad....that is, a civilization run by a super computer which is actually a human (or Vulcan) brain.
If you were to re write the episode basing it on that premise, what would you do? What challenge , what drama?
