Ziyal is HOME

Two days isn't much after the months that these series of threads have been going. Good luck! :)

As requested.

Aw, thanks for the cuties, guys.

Greytrek, maybe my sarcasm wasn't clear. Two days until the vac, which is so NOT fun, goes back on. For how long, I have no idea. :(

Isn't there anything else they could give you that would be less obnoxious than the wound vac?

Now, I've heard that cat purring is supposed to encourage a healthy body...maybe this will work. :)

Here's a cat clearly enjoying himself. (And good on the owner for using a pet foster while searching for a pet-friendly apartment rather than giving up his cat.)

Nerys, that's some serious purring! Both of my cats' ears started twitching.

In answer to your question, no, there is no alternative. Or rather, the alternative dressing needs to be changed daily, and insurance won't cover the nurse visiting that often. And because of the location, I can't do it myself. :(

RJ, your mother has a wonderful yard!

Oh, sorry. :(
I wish there was some way to get 'internet sound'. :p

Well, good luck anyway.

Aha! So I found a video that'll make them respond! ;)

Now, if you can convince either of your cats to lay on or against you, and get them purring nice and loud... ;)

Yeah, that's more for bones than anything else, but I'm sure purr treatment couldn't do any harm. ;)

Now why didn't they check everything properly before you sent the vac away? Honestly, I'm beginning to wonder if you should consider seeing a different set of doctors, because the ones you've had have been incompetent to say the least.

What gave you the impression that my docs have been incompetent? I've complained about one doctor's office staff and about the rehab center that I was in back in April.

The incision looked 100% ready to have the vac off, per both surgeon AND visiting nurse (who does not work for said surgeon). There was no way to predict that it was going to stop improving. And the vac company will only let you wait so long before returning it anyway.

Now, I think I'll get me some purr therapy... :)

I guess that to me, failing to notice that the surgeon left a mess inside your wound for so long was so major that I worried these people might be holding you back with inadequate care. :(

Yeah, she's lucky. These pics are actually a combination of scenes from the old house and the retirement community where she lives now. The yard at the old house was fantastic (and backed up onto some nice swampy woods), but the yard where she is now is very nice, too (and backs up on some woods with a cool river down behind).

You can thank my Sister for finding this one:

Oh, okay.

Except it was a nurse at the rehab center who left the old dressing in the wound, and it was too far inside -- like in a tunnel -- for anyone to see. And it was the surgeon who found it, after one of the visiting nurses got suspicious that something was wrong.

Rehab center was decidedly incompetent. Everyone before and after has been wonderful.

RJ: Poooor doggy!

You've all been so supportive, I had bring this thread back to mention this:

Neurosurgeon said today that I have an 80 to 85 percent chance of the tumor never recurring. :bolian:

Recovery is still going slowly, but those stats will help me put up with a lot.

That's very good news. I'm sorry recovery is still going slowly, but things are looking up. :bolian:
