Zack Snyder will direct SUPERMAN

Robert Zemeckis has been a fan favorite to direct a Superman movie for a long time. Apparently he was in the running for the Christopher Nolan-produced reboot but he passed on that "faster than a speeding bullet".

I think Zemeckis would have been an interesting choice for director but he was never a top choice of mine like a lot of other people. Then again, neither was Zack Snyder.

Actually, now that you mention it, a period animated Superman movie in the vein of the Max Fleischer cartoons directed by Zemeckis would have been pretty interesting.

But with Robert Zemeckis, he would've had the trailer give everything away, so you could make up your mind if you wanted to see it or not beforehand. :)

Zemeckis actually compared movie trailers to McDonald's, saying people want to know exactly what they're going to get... thus explains the trailers for his movies What Lies Beneath and Cast Away.

I would have liked Zemeckis...if it could have been the Zemeckis who could give us the fun of a Back to the Future movie and the heroic folk tale of Forrest Gump. Sadly, I don't think that guy makes movies any more.

I think Zemeckis would have done a terrific adaption of the Tom De Haven novel "It's Superman!!!" One of my favorite books of all time and a great interpretation of Superman that would be right up his alley.

I'm thinking that Snyder will start focusing on "Superman" once his "Sucker Punch" duties are complete...not to mention the fact that he's been co-writing the "Xerxes" script for the last several months (although that obviously would be pushed to the back burner while working on Supes).

Zack Snyder says General Zod will not be in his film.

"It's a different story. I won't say there's a break from the canon or anything like that, but there is definitely an approach that makes you go, 'Okay, that's a way to get at it.' [David Goyer] is very respectful of the canon and stuff like that. It has its roots in the canon and again, like I say, it has a point of view about who he is. I'm being cryptic, I know, but it's the best I can do."
On specifically of Zod's involvement:

"Just wrong! The internet has no idea what's going on."
I gotta tell you... when I read Snyder saying "wrong!", it reminded me of Lex Luthor screaming "Wrong!" in Superman Returns.

Thank God, maybe we'll get a nice Brainiac story. Or Darkseid, or maybe Manchester Black.

I don't see Nolan and Goyer writing a script based around Mxy...I think he would be just too hard a character to try and explain in a realistic universe. "Smallville" did a interesting take on the character and as far as we know that version is still around locked away in one of Lex's metahuman projects.

Intergang would kind of be cool. We know from the two Batman films that Nolan loves the mob and Intergang is kind of like the Metropolis mob. I could see Morgan Edge as the villain maybe setting up the return of Lex for another movie. I know that will please all the "I'm sick of Lex" people.
