Zack Snyder will direct SUPERMAN

I was really hoping that Duncan Jones would get the nod even though it would have delayed "Mute" which I'm really looking forward to seeing. I think he would have been able to make an amazingly good Superman movie. I am inclined to believe that it was indeed "Mute" that made Duncan pass on this opportunity but I've not read anything to really make that comment, it's just speculation. I know that another concern is Zack's use of CGI and green screen. I will admit that this is something that has me concerned about this project but not to the extent others are.

Superman Movie Shooting in Vancouver

While "Superman Returns" was filmed in Sydney, Australia, it looks like Zack Snyder's new Superman movie is headed to Vancouver, Canada.
"[Zack Snyder's] next feature's coming here," said Peter Leitch, chair of the Motion Picture Production Industry Association of BC and president of North Shore Studios and Mammoth Studios.
Leitch would not name Superman: Man of Steel as the film in question, but a source has confirmed that the next film in the Superman franchise will be shot in Vancouver next year, with production likely beginning in the summer.

"It's good news," said Leitch, who says the local production industry has been on fire thanks in part to the HST, but also because of the experienced film crews in Vancouver, the quality of life here and the city's proximity to Los Angeles.

Did this casting catch anyone else off guard? Over the weekend and no casting rumors in some time. Then like a speeding bullet Henry Cavill is Superman!

I only know him from Showtimes Tudors but thought he was excellent as King Henry VIII's trusted friend. I think he fits. Now, let's get Lois and some story details out.

This guy has been rumored to be Superman for years, throughout various productions. People on SuperheroHype have been talking about him for ages. Good for him for finally winning the role. I have zero insight into his acting abilities. He looks the part though.

This is an incomplete rumor. It was actually a Tudors double casting. Jonathan Rhys Meyers will play Clark Kent and Henry Cavill will play Superman. Thus the secret identity thing is intact!

I'd actually heard around Friday that the True Blood guy was close to landing the role. Rumours, pfffft!

I had a feeling he was going to get another shot at the role. Looks like I was right.

I think he's got the right look for Superman, and while he isn't as tall as Reeve or Routh, 6'1" is more than adequate. I think Cavill will do just fine in the role.
