Yvonne Craig R.I.P.

Sad to report the passing of Yvonne Craig at age 78 of breast cancer.
So cute and sexy as both Batgirl and Marta. I always feel bad for poor Marta's fate---not getting the cure in Whom Gods Destroy.
Now I feel sad and a little older.
R.I.P.
young lady.

Just heard this on the radio on the top of the hour news.
Another great talent from 1960's TV is gone.
Batman was my first favorite TV show as a tiny kid. Even had the crappy Halloween costume. Really big fan of Batgirl. And a little later, Martia the crazy Orion lady.

I gasped when I saw this. Very sad.

MeTV is running a Batman promo lately that features Batgirl, and they've underscored it with the theme from That Girl. It was cute and now it's poignant.

She was 78? I had no idea, she was still young in my mind, I'll always remember her as Batgirl. I remember how exited I was when she was added to Batman, it was one of my favorite shows when I grew up.

RIP. :(

This news makes me very sad. She was very interesed in what we had to say when we met her at a convention several years ago. She was asking us a lot of questions and was very engaged in the conversation. She will be missed by many.

RIP

I got to talk to her during a Q&A when she came to town for a convention for a couple of years back. The questions were pretty much all about Batman, not surprisingly, though a few people asked about her dancing career and one person asked about working with Elvis. Star Trek didn't come up. She said her favorite villain to work with was Vincent Price, who played Egghead. Someone (I honestly don't recall if it was me or someone else) asked her about working with Alan Napier, who played Alfred on the show. She mentioned that he was very nice, though she mentioned that he came from a very upper class family who had looked down on his acting career. I pointed out that was in fact a cousin of Neville Chamberlain, which she apparently didn't know and was surprised to learn that.

Very sad news. I've recently gone through all of Batman on Blu-ray and while the third season was a let down after the previous two, her presence elevated the season and she was a joy to watch. I always enjoyed seeing her smile during the fight scenes.

Rest in peace.

Neil
