You're in charge of the last ever X-Men movie...

Here are the rules:

1) Your movie must take place after X-Men: The Last Stand

2) You may not ignore any movies that have already been made. You don't necessarily have to acknowledge them, but you can't contradict them.

3) You may undo events that have happened in the other movies, but you must explain how you will do that.

4) Your movie must be based on a specific story from the comics.

Ready? Go!

Last ever? While "Age of Apocalypse" would be cool, I'm thinking "Days of Future Past." The story would be perfect, as it would start out in the future, with Wolverine leading the remainder of the X-Men, with Magneto in a wheelchair. Cue the explanation that their current problems began with the death of Jean Grey (unless they wanted to reboot everything, then you could keep it the death of Senator Kelley and re-do the first movie onward). Kate Pryde could go back in time, take over her teenage body and attempt to stop Jean's death, and thus negate X-Men: The Last Stand. The first part of the movie could be the struggle of the future X-Men to send Kate back in time and the second time could show us how Kate, in Kitty's body went from the siege of the Mansion to Alkali Lake to save Jean.

My first thought was Age Of Apocalypse because that's my favourite X-Men storyline, but I don't think the crazy sci-fi stuff from Gambit and the X-Ternals would fit the tone of what's come before. I also think you'd need at least two films to tell the whole story.

I would play along with this thread, but I don't read the comic books, I just go to the movies...

Sentinels. Days Of Future Past adaptation that would highly amuse one Harlan Ellison. Factor in some changing timelines so that First Class somehow fits in with the others and it's all damn-dirty-mutant goodness.

Deadpool movie.

Have him come in right after the end of the last Wolverine movie, kill that Weapon XI poser and get to being awesome. Just a series of random scenes with dead baby comedy, slapstick, over the top action, CGI Bea Arthur, and all with Ryan Reynolds hamming it up to his heart's content. Throw in some of the X Marks the Spot SL with him wanting the join the X-men just for the hell of it.
