Your top 5 movies for 2010...

mr.peany

Commodore
Commodore
1. Toy Story 3
2. Inception
3. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
4. How to Train Your Dragon
5. The Social Network

On the whole, I was left unimpressed with many films this year, Tron being the latest example of the hype not meeting the finished product. Heres hoping 2011 provides a substantial increase in quality.

Feel free to judge away...

I don't think I even saw five films this year.

1. How to Train Your Dragon
2. Inception
3. Toy Story 3

√-1. Tron Legacy (I have no idea what my opinion is of that film.)

I didn't see much this year. Inception was by far the best film of the year for me, I loved it instantly.

Other than that, Kick-ass was good for a laugh and both A-team and The Expendables were servicable action films. Can't recall the other movies I went to see.

I just saw Tron tonight. It's certainly good, but I'm needing a rewatch before I can rate it without the hype and weight of the original on it. I did like it though.

Not seen too many movies this year but...

Kick Ass
Toy Story 3
Shutter Island
Green Zone
Iron Man 2

honorable mention to The A-Team.

I have a backlog of movies to watch from 2010.

1) Inception
2) The Town
3) The Social Network
4) Restrepo
5) Easy A

'True Grit' is not out yet but will probably make the list. 'The Other Guys' is funnier than 'Easy A,' but the latter is a better movie. The lion vs. the tuna argument from 'The Other Guys' had me laughing harder in the theater more than anything else this year, though.

Overall though it was a pretty weak year for movies. You know it's bad when you're struggling to fill out a top 5 list.

The year isn't over yet, so I can't say what my top five are, especially considering I still need to see films like Black Swan, The King's Speech, 127 Hours, True Grit, and Biutiful. I do, however, have a list of "Top 10 Candidates" that I'll post, though these aren't in any certain order as of yet and I won't even attempt to put them into an order until likely mid-to-late January.

  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
  • Toy Story 3
  • Inception
  • The Kids Are All Right
  • The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg & The Pentagon Papers
  • Winter's Bone
  • The Social Network
  • Leaves of Grass
  • City Island
  • Waiting for "Superman"
  • Nice Guy Johnny
I don't think the quality of 2010 films has necessarily been lacking, unless one is only looking at big Hollywood films, in which case one deserves to be disappointed as far as I'm concerned. I've seen 49 films so far this year, and the majority of those are either independent or foreign films.

I actually haven't seen too many films from 2010. Maybe about a dozen, in total? Anyways, here are my Top Five:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, part 1
Inception
Kick Ass
Scott Pilgrim vs the World
Toy Story 3

I don't think I even saw five films this year.

Same here, at least if we're talking about films in a theater. The only ones I saw in a theater were:

Inception
Scott Pilgrim
the Social Network
Iron Man 2

All of which I greatly enjoyed so, I guess, those are my top four.

The Other Guys
The King's Speech (brilliant)

Hm... I guess top 4. Honorable mention: Inception, A-Team, Megamind

Edited to add: haven't seen Tron yet...

I'm still bummed I missed Social Network. Maybe it might come back to theaters for New Years and I'll see it then. As for my top 5 that I did see (Which wasn't much)

1. Toy Story 3
2. Inception
3. How to Train Your Dragon
4. Tron: Legacy

Nothing else stands out, that I've seen.

Ther's still a few I want to see but as of now -

The Social Network
Inception
Kick Ass
Scott Pilgrim vs the World
Toy Story 3

Honourable mention to -

How to Train your Dragon
Winter's Bone

I only saw 5 movies in theatres this year - "The Social Network", "Inception", "Toy Story 3", "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World", and "Easy A". I liked parts in all of them, but the only new movies I saw this year that I thought were excellent from start to finish were "The Social Network" and "Greenberg". I also saw "Iron Man 2" and "Kick-Ass", which I didn't like so much.

So far:

1. Social Network
2. Inception
3. The Hurt Locker
4. Tron Legacy
5. Iron Man 2

Only Other film I saw was Robin Hood

Gotta wait until next month for True Grit and Black Swan. Looking forward to both films.
