Your TOP 20 Movies...

That master list of everything is interesting, although a few titles were split up due to being entered slightly differently (i.e. The Godfather).

Yeah I noticed that too. Also I'm pretty sure that whoever posted Singing In The Rain meant Singin' In The Rain.

It is a good list though. Seems to be a lot of variety on this forum.

These films aren't in any order.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Donnie Darko
American Beauty
High Fidelity
Lord of the rings - Return of the King
Mystic River
The Dark Knight
Fargo
O Brother Where are thou?
The Truman Show
The Usual Suspects
Star Trek - First Contact
The Shawshank Redemption
Back to the Future
Star Wars
Star Wars - The empire strikes back
Serenity
Pulp Fiction
Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Matrix

I wonder in threads like these, do people actually bother reading all the other posts and look at all the films others have put down, or do they just skim it all and post their own Top 20 straight away :p

I went pretty early, but I still read them for that inevitable "Ah! I can't believe I left that out!" moment Happened just a second ago with Blue Velvet.

In no particular order:

Titanic (1997)
Cruel Intentions
American Beauty
Blade Runner
Scream
Starship Troopers
The Empire strikes Back
King Kong (2005)

First Contact
Friday the 13th
Halloween

Okay so I ran the numbers through Starbreaker's post.... 65% of the 899 films listed were common to at least two of the posters.
...
I don't see any mention of 101 Dalmatians. Mind you, I suppose you weren't counting the Honorable Mentions lists. And strictly speaking, The Man in the Iron Mask should have been mentioned twice, as I mentioned two separate versions (Chamberlain and diCaprio).

I can't believe I didn't add Ben-Hur.

Why do people list trilogies as one movie? The very definition suggest three separate movies. Just an irksome detail, since for example Bourne Identity isn't as good as Bourne Ultimatum, and they came out six years apart, they should be separate. The only thing I could see done jointly would be Grindhouse, since you saw both Planet Terror and Death Proof at the same time in the theater.

I listed Kill Bill 1 & 2 and The Godfather Part 1 & 2, respectively, as one film. This is because there were only 20 spots. And I'm a cheat.

Oh god.. I love and hate these types of threads. love em cause they are great questions. But I hate em cause they take me FOREVER to write out cause there are so many posible choices. Not necessarily in order.

Please check Ebert's review...

Who ? Ah (google), I never trust critics, specially in Cinema.
And after reading his critic of Children of Paradise, I can say I would never trust this guy since he he had some points of the movie wrong.

I wonder in threads like these, do people actually bother reading all the other posts and look at all the films others have put down, or do they just skim it all and post their own Top 20 straight away :p

I haven't read the whole thread, but has stj told any of you yet how wrong your choices are and that his list is the only true list?
