I sepnt the past five days, getting myself back up to Lt Cmdr, I HATED the cruiser i selected, it was slow lumber and a POS. I create a new character and worked myself back up as an gineering officer to get an escort class which I ripped City on the Edge of NEver with.

I still can't beelivethere are admirals and captains out there. I am at Lt Cmdr 2 and need nearly a 1000 points just to advance one level. Some of these people must live and breath STO!

Yeah i've played a week or so on and off and i'm due to make Captain what.. next weekend if i'm lucky? I dont get how people were RA5 in a week. A month, sure. A week means you didnt sleep.

There are some rather underhanded exploits of the leveling system, especially when it comes to Deep space encounters as part of the defend sector missions. Using those you could easily get 400 skill points in under 5 minutes if you're lucky.

Also there's the patrol sector missions which are usually quick and easy, lasting for an hour and by the time you've finished them you could amount upto 700 skill points.

How the hell are you guys getting through the game so fast?? lol

Yeah, all those people who complain about leveling to RA in 2 months must basically have no girlfriends to speak of. I play literally whenever I have free time, it's the only game I play, and I'm... L9!

As Blamo said, you can level really quickly id all you do is "Defend Sector Block" and DSEs (I got 90% of my CP5 in 45 mins doing that) but why would you want to. You end up missing out on all the good stuff (i.e. the Story).

Finally...

I love this game, and I'm addicted to taking screenshots! I have a photo log of almost every planet I've been to. Oh, and this was weird...

Why do people play the game in windowed mode?

It allows me to bring up things like the tribble breeding flowcharts and the ship chart on my second monitor without disrupting the game. Plus my monitors are already at maximum resolution, so I still playing at the best quality.

Ehm, so you can't play the game fullscreen on monitor 1 and use monitor 2 for the flowcharts etc?
I'm not familiar with dualscreen setups, so...

I play mine in window mode because if I dont I can't see the mouse. Plus, even in window mode when I maximize the window it goes full screen, no taskbar or anything. So I think the computer does that, not windows. (the task bar in my screen shots only appears when I start up the snipping tool. I have to push the windows button to get to it.)

Hm, sounds like a driver issue...
Or try the software mouse option...

It took forever, but I made Captain!
