Kelvin I can understand, as it's JJtrek, something they said they wouldn't consider canon, though they've absorbed that awful jjtrek crossover comic into STO continuity.
The other two, I dunno. Possibly because several different ships had the name Hood from tiny science ships to large cruiser types and the Challenger was in the alternate reality only?

I believe the solution is simple. Could it be, that the name venture is used by the developers themselves somewhere in the game? If not they probably plan to. The other ships are not yet in use somehow and so their names aren't restricted.
Imagine receiving a call from another ship: "USS Venture, this is the Federation ship USS Venture, Do you need assistance?"
Sounds stupid, doesnt it?
Of course this the same game, that has Borg terrorist cells infiltrating alien gouvernments on exploration missions in an underground base.

Yeah because I named my Galaxy class the USS Odyssey, and it took.
By the way. You can make these shots without the HUD. Everytime you make a screenshot with the print button on your keyboard the screenshot will automatically be saved into the screenshot folder of the game. No need to copy and paste it anywhere else with all that "garbage" superimposed on it

And if you host with imgur you can crop and resize on the fly to get rid of all that extra, unnecessary background. That way you can post many of the images side-by-side instead of on top of one another. It will also auto-create thumbnails for you (more sizes tab) and you can post mini-images linking to the larger images.

It could be, I noticed I wasn't able to name the starter ship Kelvin from character creation but I could after finishing the tutorial. I figured this was because there was a damaged ship named Kelvin that you had to beam survivors off.
However I've yet to encounter an NPC vessel named Venture yet.
Congratz on making Admiral. If you wanna have a go at the STF missions, starting with Infected I would recommend giving me a call. I can get you into an experienced team, which will be much easier to learn them with, than to go with PUGs.

They're in the process of converting it over, so the exterior still looks like the previous version. However they'll keep slowing upgrading ESD over the next few weeks. At the moment they've changed the look of Club 47, added a different looking office for Admiral Quinn (which you can just walk into using the sliding doors) and added in a proper transporter room for beaming in, as well as a medical lab for the chief medical officer.
