Your postmortem thoughts on DISCO

I don’t think Stacy Abrams’ cameo led to the cancellation of Trek. Might have peeved off Ted Cruz, but as someone living in Texas, I really don’t give a shit about him.
Not directly, but the attitude that "i can live without them just fine" and it's ok to continuously alienate large portions of potential new fans did.

I know the prince of Jordan appeared once in VOY, but he was a background extra with no speaking part. That's different than a speaking role.
I think the then Prince was given a part because he was a huge Star Trek fan. It had to be non-verbal because the Prince didnt have a SAG credential.

True, and that's still pretty cool.

I'm certain there are more politicians that are ST fans. I was surprised an active politician was given a speaking role, though.

Im surprised such a divisive figure was given such a role.

Mayor Koch was in a handful of TV shows ( Spin City if i recall correctly ). Maybe it's a difference in the times, but he had a funny role that added to the episode.

That’s what I figured. Divisive by a specific subset of viewers, not universally.
My "subset" is just as large as your group.
And if Disco had focused on quality story telling instead of chosen family, maybe it leads Paramount + as the lead of a much stronger Star Trek franchise.
