^*jealous!*

I paid $600 for a brake job that started out with $300 quote and it kept growing averytime they looked under the car. Big long lecture about mudding to the offspring ensued.

If Honda's OEM warranty wasn't so crappy - 3yrs/36k miles - I wouldn't have purchased the extended warranty. Sometimes you're the ball, sometimes you're the bat. I was the bat today.

Replaced the A/C compressor and all associated parts on the van yesterday. Quoted price: $1,450; my price: $50. The extended warranty I bought with the car just paid for itself.

Nice one.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed... I also made my money back when I initially got an extended warranty for my car, because about 9 months later, a coolant leak developed and tracking down the source and then replacing it took a lot of dealer man-hours. The warranty covered the labour as well as the part, so phew!

However, when I went to extend the extended warranty, the cost had gone up a LOT, so I didn't bother. So far, I've been about 2 years without one, and have had no major repairs that would have been covered under it, so as I said, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm roughly accounting the money saved against the cost of repairs over the same time period and hoping to stay ahead! :D

Not even a little bit. I'd rather have a dishwasher (and no need for the sponge) and sinks that aren't clogged. I really want to know what my landlord did with the previous tenant's security deposit, because I feel like I should be getting paid for all the work I've had to do just to make this place livable.

^ I can sympathise.

I just finished Spring Cleaning my place yesterday. It was a multi-day job, spending a couple of hours each day. It's all sparkly and clean now. I cleaned everything, even behind stuff that hadn't been moved since I moved in about 7 years ago. And probably not since the whole building was completely renovated about 10+ years ago. Seriously, Monica Geller would be pleased with the flat now. Well, almost. I really can't be bothered to properly scrub the kitchen floor, so a mopping will just have to do there.

It's both satisfying, but depressing, because I know a regular clean at least will need doing again soon. A friend recently got in "a lady who does" who does a great job; I reckon I might just poach her to do a few hours at my place every fortnight.

It took me 3 cans of oven cleaner to actually get my kitchen floor clean (I also sliced my finger open on a random shard of glass that was sticking out of the base board). The grease and dirt that had collected had to have been 10+ years old.

What I don't understand is how the previous residents were okay living in such filthy conditions.

Hope your tetanus jabs are up to date! :D

You've reminded me that I didn't bother to do inside the oven either. Fortunately it's one of those self-cleaning ones so is OK.

There are some seriously grubby people out there. I suspect they're the result of cross-breeding with cockroaches to survice the last Ice Age.

I got one about a year ago when I stabbed myself with my wine opener. I'm sure I'll be fine.

I wasn't even able to use my kitchen for the first week I lived here because it was so gross. I just don't get it.

They probably left it dirty to put people off entering and finding the dead body hidden under the floorboards.

Yes. You *MUST* go for the ears first and then just take off the whole head. Ensure that chocolate bastard is completely done-for.

Alternatively, bite them in the bum and watch them limp. If they're going to be done for anyway, let it suffer first.

Awwwww....sorry it's that bad!!

It's okay. It's all better now. Turns out I am really awesome at cleaning when I have to be.
