I bought a guitar! I am super excited about it too. I've wanted to learn to play for awhile, and now I can finally get going. I bought a travel-size acoustic guitar used off craigslist. It is in excellent condition, and the guy I bought it from was super nice, he threw in an extra set of strings and a convenient case. I paid $75 and I'm very pleased with it.

I wanted an instrument that I can bring to the classroom and play with my kids (kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade). I didn't want to spend too much money in case I don't enjoy it as much as I hope I will, so this little guitar really was the perfect choice: cheap, easily transportable. I'm trusting my experience on the cello, violin, and mandolin to allow me to learn on my own, with the aid of online tutorials, since I can't really afford lessons. I was able to learn the mandolin and violin on my own (though I haven't really played any instrument in years). Who knows, it might rekindle my passion for the cello as well!

Good luck with the guitar. :) I too wondered if my background in the violin could translate well to the guitar when I took it up a few years ago - and I found it somewhat tricky. I had books to help me with it, and I can strum an OK series of chords if I practise hard. I actually found re-learning chord progression theory to be fun again.

^ Well, you can't have it 'cuz it's mine!.

Plus, I don't have it in my possession yet.

Okay, chords are much more difficult for me on a guitar compared to a mandolin -- I have very small lady hands! But I've learned, though not mastered, D, G, Am chords, and an E flat scale! I practiced for about 20 min, and would do more but I've got work early. I think this was a good investment!

That's a good start - more than I managed when I started. I wasn't that much into scales, though.

Just bought myself a new rock climbing chalk bag, plus lead rope. Meh. Costs so much. But it will be awesome. Also bought a shiny new stethoscope.

Amazon.com spree today:
Ocean's Eleven (Blu-ray)
Following (DVD, Nolan)
Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway (DVD, Lynch)
Primer (DVD)
Mystery Train (DVD, Jarmusch)
The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes (DVD, Quay Brothers)
Miller's Crossing (DVD, Coen Brothers)

Almost pulled the trigger on The Fountain on Blu-ray, but I'm going to wait for it to come down a bit. $17 is a lot in Blu-ray dollars nowadays.

This is for an upcoming purchase: lotion.

My skin has been drying out terribly, and since I'm diabetic, this is a concern I'd like to address. I don't use lotion very often, and I think it's made my skin age a bit because I haven't used it. So I'm going to start using some kind of body lotion after every shower. The problem is that my skin is sensitive. Are there any decent body lotions for people with sensitive skin? I know this is a purchases thread but since this is a future purchase, I figured I'd ask.

^^ Try using baby oil after you shower, but before you dry off. There are some baby oils which don't have that sickly-sweet baby powder smell; there's an Aloe and Vitamin E one that doesn't smell too bad. Also, you can try using Cetaphil products, they are unscented (just don't use the bar soap, it's yucky-smelling).

Three remastered CDs by Kraftwerk:

Computer World
Techno Pop
<-- name change; original version was called Electric Café
The Mix

A Rubbermaid wave break commercial mop bucket and wringer just like the janitor uses.

"Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection" for PS3. I was feeling nostalgic.
I wanted to get that for the 360 but it doesn't have the greatest Genesis game ever, Herzog Zwei.
