I bought a couple of books - Nigella Express and What to Drink with What You Eat.

The drool icon is mainly because I'm thinking about Nigella, but the food & drink should be good too... ;)

These books arrived yesterday and I've had a chance to browse them now. Both are brilliant! Nigella's is wonderfully written - I'd only use about 50% of the recipes I think, but the writing is magical. What to Drink... is just a goldmine of information. Truly great reference text.

A copy of Orbits by Guochang Xu from Springer.com and eight hours of "Vicki" from Apples on Heels Escorts.

TGT

You didn't go for a girl/girl session with "Vicki" and "Pamela"? I'm disappointed :(:p.

For myself, I just picked up a couple of issues of Car Styling Magazine with articles on Syd Mead's work.

In keeping with the rest of this post, I also just picked up a copy of the December 1960 issue of Escapade magazine, which has a pictorial featuring Nichelle Nichols.

I purchased a slightly used washer and dryer set. Got an excellent deal on them. :) Kenmore Elites. They make me feel all fuzzy.

Economic times are tough for a lot of folks. I'm looking for deals from those folks.

^

I'm very very pleased (like Rick Berman on good coke). I haven't bought anything at all in ages but whenever I get back to Ottawa, as I am now, I check out the thrift stores here since they don't get picked over as much as in Montreal, and yesterday I found some great items. First of all, a light grey pinstripe suit that fits me better than any other suit I've ever found, which is hard to do because of my proportions. Second, I found a blue pinstripe sports coat, which also fits remarkably well, and may become part of a Doctor Who costume. Third and fourth, a toothpaste green polo shirt with a white moose embroidered on the left breast, and a late fall/early winter jacket that'll come in really handy soon. Lastly, I found a pair of great H&M jeans that seem like they haven't been worn, for only $10. Total cost, $75! :D

Killer deals!

Light grey pinstripe suits rock esp. on bright sunny spring & autumn days - I have one myself and it gets a lot of use in those seasons. Wore it just a couple of days ago in fact.

I'm on a self-imposed clothes moratorium for a month or so until the MTM sale starts at my local tailor, 'cos I've got two bundles of fabric I picked up at a very good price a while back just waiting to be made up into a 3-piece suit and a pair of trousers.

I'm in the financial planning process of buying myself a new copy of Finale (I'd buy it through school, but I've had the school buy me some luxuries lately, and I don't want our Tech Committee to have any input on my software choices). I might also raise the middle finger and go with Sibelius.

We're also pondering a roast this weekend, being fall and all... or supplies for a massive pot of chili for dinner tomorrow.

Groceries (including quite a bit of salad as Tulip (Guinea Pig) shares with me) and 9 pounds each of Timothy and Bluegrass hay for the girl. My, she's a high-maintainence piggie! :D I'll be getting the boys (Michael & Erik, gerbils) a few things soon since tank cleaning day is getting near. I'll be getting Aspen litter and some Chubes for them.

Well, we settled on $85 worth of books from Amazon today. The new Repairman Jack comes out on Tuesday, and I need to complete my set of the James Bond trade-paperbacks. Still going to try to finance Finale for myself. Uncle Sam can pay for it on my taxes.

Two VeggieTales DVDs:

- The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie
- Tomato Sawyer & Huckleberry Larry's Big River Rescue

3 more cans of Chilimac, 3 granny smith apples, a bag of bits o' honey and a 24 oz can of Budweiser.

I'm not very good at picking out food it seems.
