Just got this for the bathroom sink.

We wanted a nice candle for the coffee table in the living room (and the plate for it was irresistable :) )

About $150 worth of Lions Club pins this weekend at the MD 27 Convention. No Wisconsin '62 Blue Dot, though.

Groceries and more things for my gerbils. I bought some 'fiddle sticks' (you can bend them and make different shapes), a wheel, and some wood pieces you put together for them. Gerbils are world-class chewers. I also got a toy that hangs and has a bell on the end. Erik's already tried to climb it. I put the tank topper on Erik's tank so he can test it out. He really is enjoying it. He's so cute running up and down the ramps. I'll let Michael give it a try in a couple of days.

For my future guinea pig, I bought a nest box, water bottles, and food dishes. I hope to get my piggy in a month or so. I still need to get a couple of little toys for the cage. I also got some more bedding (Aspen) for the gerbils' next tank cleaning. One good thing is both species enjoy cardboard. Michael and Erik get a piece daily to gnaw. I've read guinea pigs are also gnawers and will enjoy cardboard, wood pieces, and such.

The Indiana Jones trilogy. Apparently, a couple year old set of the movies costs more than buying the brand new super-duper special editions seperately.

And for those desperate to know, I planted the petunias, ate the bread, and shared the fries. Life is good. :D

Now I need more bread and fries. :(

I bought a blue T-shirt at the Scarborough Renaissance Fair, along with a bag of Kettle Corn, and a pretty leather bracelet.

I bought:
a Macchi C.205 Veltro
and a Mitsubishi J2M Raiden

Next: a place where I am going to put them :vulcan:

I ordered some Frank Sinatra films, since 3 boxed sets just got released.

Can't believe he's been gone 10 years.

Been a busy little shopper over the past few days -

- a set of 1920s art deco silver teaspoons for a friend's birthday present
- a vintage but virtually mint Christy's black homburg hat that should be a perfect fit
- grocery shopping (yawn, I know, but I did have a rather flirty cashier which alleviated the boredom marginally)
- filled up the car from almost completely empty (a simply ridiculous $135.... :( )
- and finally got round to ordering the extended edition LOTR trilogy for a reasonable price

H-O-T-T. Hott! You know how I love hats.

I have a fantastic story:
Today I went shopping for a cooking lesson tomorrow (when I say cooking I mean putting snacks together, but they're second graders and are thrilled to think they are actually cooking). We are studying birds so the treat is made all of things that birds might eat: dates stuffed with sunflower seeds, raisins, nuts, and rolled in honey and coconut.
I've done this lesson with 4 classes so far, and I'm doing it with my last two classes tomorrow. We start by making a Venn Diagram showing things that birds eat and that people eat. But while we had quite an easy time thinking of things that birds eat (worms, cockroaches, mice), and an easy time thinking of things both birds and people eat (bread, rice, seeds, nuts), we had a little trouble coming up with things that only people would eat. While there are plenty of things that most birds won't eat, like hot dogs and egg and cheese sandwiches, there are always crows to make an exception. My first three classes were stumped, and admittedly, so was I -- crows eat anything! Finally, in my last class of the day, Mikey, dear, sweet, clever Mikey, raised his hand, "I know it! I know it!" he said. "I know something that people eat that birds don't eat: BOOGERS!" We all about died laughing as I wrote it on the blackboard.

I got it in the mail today - it's a pretty good fit. :)

Now I just have to decide what to wear with it. Homburgs are very formal (only just under toppers) so wearing it to Black Tie events is an obvious choice. But I might just about be able to wear it in winter with a 3 piece suit and a smart overcoat too.

I now have a black fedora that I need to sell since I don't really need two black hats and I hardly wore the black fedora. Then again, "need" probably isn't the best way to think of hats. :)

How's your hat collection going? Have you received the custom ones you commissioned yet?

Genius.

The kid has a future career writing absolutely watertight prenup contracts or something. :D

^^^ I wouldn't doubt it; you can't get anything past Mikey.

As to the hats, you do know that once you get rid of that fedora you will find the perfect coat to match it and will thus be very, very sad? These are things you must remember!

I got my green felted cloche a while back, and it's gorgeous: deep, emerald green with an asymmetrical ripple in the felting, and a huge green and black bejeweled and feathered flower on the side. It's just shy of a church hat, but shy enough not to be ridiculous, especially when worn with a nice pair of jeans and a fitted black jacket. Sometimes you just want to make some noise, you know?
I've been wanting to post it, but the emerald is so deep that it keeps turning up black in the photos. I need a friend to take a picture of me wearing it outside on a sunny day.
The other hat, the silk cloche, is going to be awhile. The milliner who's making it had an accident in Germany and is still recovering. But I'm really looking forward to that one!
And lastly, what with summer just around the corner, the milliner who made the green felted cloche is experimenting with straw cloches with linen flowers. I can't wait to see them!

You're a very bad influence, do you know that? ;)

It sounds lovely! The flower on the side especially.

Now this sounds very Daisy from Gatsby.

Will you come cry into my beautiful shirts? :D
