$80 for a bottle of Berry Slim Acai pills.
Long story.

J.

:wtf:

My mom wanted to try some acai berry pills (she's always trying to get healthier), and asked me to buy her some. Well, she gives me this website that gives a free sample and all you pay is S&H. I was instantly suspicious, but there was no obligation, you just tried them and if you liked them, you could join their membership, and she really wanted to try it (that particular site offered a different formula, something with weight loss I think).

Well, turns out there is some obligation. After 2 weeks if you don't join, they automatically enroll you into their membership program, which is $80 per year. I canceled immediately, but was unable to get the money refunded, so I essentially paid $80 for a bottle of Acai berry pills.

To say I am slightly frustrated about it would be a serious understatement, but there's nothing I can do about it. Oh, and I guess it's not really a long story.

OUCH! That stinks on ice!

OUCH! That stinks on ice!

Yeah, it does. My mom was on the verge of tears because it cost me $80 and she felt it was her fault. I explained to her that I should have looked more closely to that size 2 gray on white background font before ordering them for her. I also told her that if they worked for her and made her feel better, then it was money well spent.

Actually, I'm more angry and annoyed with HP. About 2 1/2 weeks ago my monitor died, and my HP was under warranty, so I called them that day and they said they would send out a new one and would exchange the old one with me (there was even a thread on this), anyhoo, so a week later nothing shows up, so I call them. The guy never sent out the order. So they set it up again, and said I would get my monitor by the 1st of January. Alright, so I keep tabs on the monitor shipment. Never happens. I get an email from them yesterday morning that says they're having delays.

So finally, this morning, I get an email that says they shipped my monitor, and I'll get it by January 6th. So it will be another week without being able to use my PC. It is very annoying, and it has soured me with HP, since it was only a simple monitor exchange, under warranty, and yet they botched it twice. Add in a nice monitor that should not have died after 4 months (I carefully maintain my equipment), and that's strike 3. I'll just go back to building my own systems.

I was able to snag a copy of the novel "Chieftains" by Bob Forrest Webb. This book is about a British tank crew fighting the Russians in WW III. It is extremely rare (written in 1982) and most of the copies online cost hundreds of dollars. The cheapest I saw it was $69 bucks and the most expensive was over $500. I kept searching and found a copy in a online British bookstore on sale for only $4.00. I couldnt believe my luck and bought it and now I laugh at all those losers out there who have it for sale for hundreds of dollars.

Yesterday evening, I bought seasons 2, 3 & 4 of House on DVD. Today, I bought me a new TV. :D :techman:

Bought some random supps at GNC, and I was reminded (both by the prices and by the jackass employee) why I stopped going to GNC.

Target had a cool sale on some Gillian O'Malley undies or whatever their house brand is. I also got a feather boa so I can do the burlesque routine on the Pussycat Dolls DVD I got myself for Christmas.

I also got Julianne Hough's dance workout video so I can add some new cardio workouts. :D

And I got a book on getting my real estate license.

Nobody's posted since I posted the last time? :(

I ordered a DVD on burlesque routines and a book on body language from Amazon.

I'm thinking about auditioning for a burlesque troupe here in Austin, and I'm looking for some good instructional DVDs before I audition. :D

Oh, and I got a feather boa to do the routine with.

Did lots of Boxing week shopping:

  • Seasons 2 and 3 of The X-Files
  • a coffee grinder
  • a George Forman Grill (just did chicken breasts tonight...Mmmm Mmmm!)
  • Bon Jovi's book "When We Were Beautiful" celebrating the band's 25th Anniversery
  • Books: Nanny Returns, John Irving's latest, and Micheal Chricton's last, Sense and Sensibilty and Sea Monsters (all hardcovers 30% off!)
  • a $15 iTunes card
  • some new 'underthings' at La Sensa (half price!)
Most all of above was paid for by gift cards :techman:

I bought the Enterprise Limited Edition of Star Trek. Yay! :-)

I also bought pots! (well, my mother paid for them, as it was her gift to me, but I chose them)

Those are pretty. I love to cook so I am really into all that shiny stuff. :D

I purchased the DS talking purring Tribble replica and the Kirk/Command Chair action figure set. It is my present to myself for my birthday. Most people would by a watch or a suit but I would rather have toys. :rommie:

I bought a new 120Gb HDD for the Xbox 360. Now I'm on to use that transfer cable and software to move all the content from the old "puny" 20Gb HDD.

:D

I'm damn near broke.
However I stupidly picked up Season 3 of the West Wing which was on sale for $17 (I guess I'll be homeless and I can carry my DVDs around with me, heh)
