Hubby and I are finally going to replace our mattress. It's seen enough...uh...action...that it's not so great for sleeping.

Costco had some Temperpedic beds, and the floor models are 20% off. Still expensive, but we've been thinking about this for a few months now. We just didn't like the price. But 20% off and it's supposed to last 20yrs?

Hmmm...what do those adjustments do?

It is worth paying out for a new mattress. I spent two years at Uni sleeping on an absolutely knackered mattress and I am really feeling the difference now I am back at home and sleeping on a good mattress. No more knackered back.

Groceries, gasoline - the usual Friday items. I've been on Amazon lately and have ordered enough books to keep me busy for a while :D . Plus, I order my boys (gerbils) some food. My girl (guinea pig) is well set for hay for the winter. She's really enjoying the bluegrass hay I bought her. She's not too picky about hay, she eats Timothy, bluegrass, orchard grass, botanical, etc.

So, after making a rather cruddy stockwhip/bullwhip hybrid...

...I decided to buy a professionally-made bullwhip, which arrived today.

Eight foot, eight plait, with the holder made by me. This is the real deal from a whip maker in Fort Worth; it is not a costume piece. I need to break it in, as you can tell that it's still a bit stiff. Doing so while learning some new cracks is my Saturday project. :techman:

I never thought I'd see Holdfast say he want to McDonalds!

I like to slum it occasionally, to remind myself of how the other half live... :p

and I got a free The Witches Ball bubble bar! :D

Shouldn't that be "hubble bubble" bar? :)

EDIT: Scratch my last post. Production paid for my lunch today. EPIC WIN!

I love it when work picks up the tab. :D

I sincerely hope you have a partner to practice with/on. :D

Are you volunteering?

I bought some food last night at a place in Burbank called "Romancing the Bean," and upscale coffee joint. Quite nice. Later, we had drinks across the street at the Gordon Biersch Brewery.

Add up the years of your life that you spend in it, and suddenly the price becomes much more reasonable. It's more important to your life than a couch and you spend more time on it... spend money on beds and food, and skimp on the rest. :) I'd even consider a bed to be more important than a car, particularly to your health.

I have a mattress from Costco and a memory foam topper... it's hard adjusting to the hard beds in hotel rooms.

I normally avoid it myself EXCEPT once a year when I drive down to Kansas City for Thanksgiving when about midway thru the drive I get my quarter-pounder with cheese and small fry.

Today I splurged: I went to the spa and got myself a mud treatment where first they hit you with the multi-head shower, exfoliate you all over then slather you in mud and wrap you up like a baked potato. This was followed up by a fantastic massage. :)

Sometimes, it just hits the spot, doesn't it! :)

Didn't buy much yesterday; just the ingredients for making fettucine carbonara for dinner. A friend opened a nice Fleurie which went very well with it.

Aiming not to spend any cash today!

I am finally getting around to decorating my apartment, so I purchased a couple of prints for framing, from eBay. One is a vintage print of Salammbo, the Carthaginian princess from the Gustave Flaubert novel of the same name. The other is H. R. Giger's "Li II".
