Soooo
, we had a thread on this last November, it ran ten pages, and maybe five of those posts were from those who'd actually seen it. Now that it's Netflixable, I figured it could be time for another.

Myself, I enjoyed the hell out of it - the unrated version, mind. It was absurdly wacky enough to be memorable, but, just as importantly, the characters took their plight seriously enough for the story to maintain its interest. The whole cast is great, Franco in particular is hilarious, Portman is wicked hot, and the action and visuals were rather higher-quality than I was expecting. It's certainly not a classic for all ages like The Princess Bride, but those who enjoyed Tropic Thunder and dig the conceit of a high fantasy movie in which everyone is swearing a blue streak will probably be entertained.

B+

I actually just watched this last night. The movie, on the whole, was pretty entertaining. I went in expecting the same type of humor as Pineapple Express, which I absolutely loved, but what I saw was still pretty funny, nonetheless.

The exchange between the wizard and Zooey Deschanel was pretty hilarious.

"How do you know it will work?" (regarding the wizard having sex with her)

"It will work. I have tested it. And if your vagina is feels anything like my hand it will work."

^ Aye, and don't forget "why would any woman ever love me? Oh yeah, because I'm rich, I live in a castle, and I can do magic!"

... Wow, Ferugson aside, no love for or interest in this at all, eh? :p

I enjoyed it. Production values were surprisingly high. Nice combo of the sensibilities of Animal House and Sword and the Sorceror. It actually works as a fantasy film as well as a comedy.

No computer generated short people here (not that there's anything wrong with that)...
