"Your Highness" red band trailer (Natalie Portman, Zooey Deschanel)

Re: "Your Highness" red band trailer (Natalie Portman, Zooey Deschanel

Ebert also called Armond White a troll. You can't hate him for that, can you? :)

Ebert goes up another notch in my book and, really, he was pretty high to begin with, he's one of few critics whom I respect.

This looks fantastic. Anything that has Natalie Portman in a thong gets an automatic "must-see" from me.
Ditto.
Plus, I love me some Zooey, in a pushup girdle no less!!

This has automatically become one of the few comedies I'll end up seeing in theater. Most all are rental, but this I'll go see.

She's a pretty girl and it's a very attractive butt.

However, there's something a little pathetic and creepy about paying to see a movie just because of someone's ass, especially when you just saw a still photograph of it for free.

I mean, what are, the next Paul Reubens?

'Beyond The Valley of the Dolls' is a terrible excuse for a film. its pretty much a soft core porno with some soap opera esq elements thrown in. i'm much more interested in the opinion of fellow fans that Ebert. maybe thats just me.

Well yeah, it's a pretty lame movie, but I don't think that's reason enough to believe Ebert has no credibility. What about the fact that he's been writing film reviews for 44 years, seen thousands of movies, won a Pulitzer Prize for his writing (the first film critic to do so), has taught courses on film, and done many set visits and interviews with film makers to discuss and better understand/appreciate the craft of film making?

Over the years he's made his fair share of bad calls (in fact, he gave three stars to what I consider the second worst film I've ever seen), but I always respect his opinion and I think it's really unfair to dismiss his opinion based on his screenwriting history.

The flicks he wrote were supposed to be silly B-pictures. He wasn't aiming for high art. And while I agree that a lot of "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" is stupid and tedious, I did think the final sequence (with the LSD party) was pure cinema brilliance. Transcendently hilarious camp. On purpose!

While I think Ebert has lost it as a critic over the past ten or so years, I would agree that it's silly to attack his credibility over something he did very early in his career.

That would be like, I dunno, judging Clint Eastwood, not on Dirty Harry, Unforgiven, etc., but on "Revenge of the Creature."

Everybody's got to start somewhere.

Or James Cameron on "Piranha 2: The Spawning."

Tonight at Poker a few of the guys there had said they saw it. They thought it was pretty funny but said it was definitely a rental.
