Your head canon

Another attempt to get away from some of the negativity around here lately.

What are some things in your head canon?

One silly thing in mine is that B'Elanna and Worf know each other. In my head canon when she was having some trouble in academy she was put in contact with Worf by one of her professors since he was a Klingon the professor thought he cold help her adjust, and they developed a friendship.

Or perhaps she knew K'Eylar (Alexander's mother, Worf's first love). Since Worf grew up on Earth, I have the head canon that K'Eylar was the daughter of the Klingon ambassador to the Federation and his human wife. K'Eylar did not seem as conflicted as B'Elanna did about her dual heritage.

Small universe syndrome.

Did they ever (in canon) say how those two previously met? A junior Starfleet officer and someone from the diplomatic service, how do they cross paths?

There's nothing in actual canon that says that they ever met

I use to believe that they eventually learned how to back up the Doctor's program and the Living Witness Doctor is a result of that. From a viewer standpoint, it feels natural to assume this backup was lost after the previous episode, but before the next episode since this is how the story is presented, but as I recall the backup was still not possible and that's why this episode is a bit funky. So he comes from some point later on in subsequent seasons and is not contemporary to the episodes before and after Living Witness. During later seasons he has backups but no one ever talks about it.

I believe I saw another poster say that the Living Witness Doctor was from the original Voyager pre-Endgame timey-wimey which I also really like the idea of.

Seven dumped Chak within a week of arriving home.

Which sounds negative, but issue is mostly that Seven has the life experience of a 10 year old. By Endgame, the only men she knows are the guys on VOY. If they hook up again later when she's a bit more worldly, my head canon could deal.

And the Super Borg still totally rocked up from the Delta Quadrant and ate Pluto. I can take or leave Trek lit, but that amuses me. The issue as to whether it's a planet is finally resolved!

It's just a small thing but I always tell myself that somehow Janeway would've got one of those puppies her dog had, or a puppy of one of those puppies.

My head canon is that some of Seven's human DNA was mixed in with her nano-probes, Doc's mobile emitter and Ensign Mulcahey's DNA in the episode Drone. And that's the reason that One didn't look exactly like Mulcahey.

Vorik was the twin brother of Taurik from the Enterprise.

The ship commanded by Geordi LaForge's mother was also another one of the Caretaker's abductees. But was never found.

The Unimatrix Zero rebellion had it's seed of a beginning with Hugh's individuality.

1) Kes never leaves Voyager and the horrible episode called FURY is never made. We see how Kes and Seven get along and it’ll give us some fantastic stories.

2) The storyline of trying to find Suspiria is continued and will be a major plot in the show. The whole thing will become connected with the Borg somehow so that in ENDGAME we have the Caretaker thread, the Borg thread and anything else that was of particular importance during the entire run of the show.

3) Janeway and Tommyboy’s children are not abandoned or if they are, we will see them later on. Perhaps they have evolved into some kind of superhumans (or superlizards) and this will give us later the NOTHING HUMAN episode.

4) The story of PROTOTYPE is developed into an arc. Voyager gets embroiled in the robot war and the story is developed into a five-episode arc.

5) There are at least one or two story arcs in every season. By story arc I mean the one that we saw in Season Two with Tom’s fake behaviour and stuff.

6) Hogan is never killed off.

7) The Kazon don’t wear tree foliage on their heads.

8) The Think Tank has never cured the Vidiians of their phage and through time travel (or whatever other plot device) we see them in later episodes (this excludes FURY, which never comes into being).

9) Harry Kim either finds the love of his life – or not. But either way, he stops the whole „let-me-chase-the-wrong-woman” storyline and starts doing something useful.

10) The Hirogen – together with the Borg – become the main recurring enemy of the show. We will meet them a lot more often, we learn a lot about their culture, Voyager gets entangled in a real love-and-hate relationship with them. At the beginning of their relationship they are enemies (for two seasons at least). Later they’ll form an alliance and the Hirogen will prove to be the most valuable ally against the Borg.

11) In contrast to basically almost everyone I think that Voyager gave us too few Borg stories so the number of the Borg stories are trebled at the least. By ENDGAME we will actually believe (Admiral) Janeway when she says „I ran into the Borg a few more times before I made it home. If I hadn't developed technology and tactics that could defeat them, I wouldn't be standing here today.”

12) The holodeck programmes aren’t restricted (more or less) to one season but they are there throughout. The Leonardo da Vinci and the Paxau Resort simulations are used during the whole show and will provide us with pleasant diversion between big fights with the Hirogen, the Borg or whoever.

13) The Mallon are either presented as a more menacing enemy or are abandoned altogether. In the former case the last two, in the latter case the last three seasons give will give us at least one new recurring enemy per season.

14) Voyager never gets as close to the Alpha Quadrant as in the show (by ENDGAME if they had got their mathematics right, they would have realized that they were already in the AQ). No gift from Kes, no meddling with quantum slipstream. This will give us a sense of what this show is supposed to be about: a ship lost in space trying to find its way home.

15) Needless to say that in my head canon, Voyager will never ever make it home. First of all, I find that this is a much better (=more dramatic) way of ending the show. Secondly, it won’t give us all the nonsense we have in the relaunch books about the whole Delta Fleet (or whatever it is called) and the whole storyline about killing off important characters then bringing them back.

16) Now here’s a remark that’ll strike a nerve with a lot of people: since I’ve never understood why people are annoyed with Harry not getting a promotion (several other people never got one so what’s the issue here?), in my head canon he will remain an ensign.

17) We have a lot more (=some) storylines with the Maquis from LEARNING CURVE, the remaining crew of the EQUINOX and the three sheep from GOOD SHEPHERD. These people were introduced then nothing happened. If Kirsten Beyer could give us all those (completely unnecessary) characters in her books that she later decided to kill off by the hundreds, then we deserve some follow-up stories with the above-mentioned characters.

18) In my head canon, there’s a lot more money for making this TV show, which means that some real big names from Hollywood are brought in to show up here and there. It’d be fun to have a show where the appearance of people like Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeves or Natalie Portman are natural.

19) Suder is never killed off and instead we have a lot of good stories with him.

20) Most importantly however: VOYAGER lasts for twenty-five seasons instead of seven. This is the biggest change to what we got – and this is also the biggest thing of all the items on the list.

Some interesting ideas. I guess when i think "head canon" I think that means that it doesn't contradict "real" canon

My head canon for the reason Seven's nanoprobes couldn't be used to revive Carey. Because let's face it, his body wouldn't have even been cold or decomposing yet. Either she was running low because of treating the alien man or Carey being shot with an energy weapon at the moment of transport caused something that even the nano-probes couldn't fix.

My head canon for Latent Image for why Kes wasn't there even thought it was stated it was before Seven's time. Since Harry, the Doctor and Jetal were on a shuttle for some reason, Kes was on a mission too.

I see. Well, in this case most of my points are irrelevant.
But the last point is still true: I wish Voyager had been a lot longer show. It's just amazing how good it is!

Also, in my head canon Tom is my boyfriend. Now that surely contradicts everything that's canon! :D

He can't be your boyfriend because he's my boyfriend ;)

I've probably mentioned most of these on here before. As part of my head-canon, I believe them to be true(in a fictional sense, of course)

  • The Borg were utterly finished as a result of Endgame. The virus was transmitted from Unimatrix 01 to all hubs, all Borg, etc.
  • Arturis' species, who were acquainted with Species 8472, lured the Borg into a war, in an effort to destroy them, as a means of self defense.
  • When Paris was demoted, everyone gave him a hard time for weeks. Like when passing him in the corridor "Good morning.....ENSIGN"
  • When Seska began talking to the Kazon, she learned the ugly truth about what happened to Gul Evek and his crew
  • After the EMH's numerous attempts at mutiny, Janeway, Chakotay, and Tuvok put a secret emergency plan in place to deactivate him. During a secret meeting, Chakotay announced the danger, Janeway heartily agreed, and Tuvok told them he already had such a program in place, should the need ever arise. One just had to say "Computer: Initiate 'Sweitzer' clearance Tuvok-Alpha-one-pi"

- Paris, Tuvok and B'Elanna were all demoted as a result of their actions in "Prime Factors". Helps explain the early inconsistencies in their rank pips.

- The "warship Voyager" from "Living Witness" was real, and the episode took place in a variant of the Mirror Universe where the Terran Empire never fell. (The Doctor's backup module was an aberration, of course.)

- Chakotay and Eddington (from DS9) led completely separate Maquis cells and never actually met. In fact Chak would have killed Eddington personally if they HAD met, because he would have been horrified by Eddington's ego and over-the-top bloodlust.

- Characters played by Kurtwood Smith have REALLY shitty luck when it comes to time travel. This isn't head canon, really, just observation.
