Your GoT Spin Off?

If you were given the chance to develop your very own Game of Thrones spin off, what would you want to see?

For me, I'd love to see what the world would be like after jumping forward several hundred years, taking it up to our modern times. How might a world where dragons and White Walkers are real might develop after industrialisation, electricity and computers? How much would have become myth and legend? What great cities might've sprung up? What families are still around?

I would go the opposite direction to ancient Valyria.

There’s SO MANY shows, movies, games, etc where people are unearthing the remains of an ancient super-civilization with advanced technology. I’d like to actually see one.

It almost looked like they were laying the foundations for Game of Thrones II with the last episode.

We could have a sequel with the descendants of Jon/Daenerys, Cersei/Euron (or kingslayer), Gendry/Arya, Sansa/Nightking? all believing they have a legitimate claim for the iron throne.

Maybe something they could do in another 10/12 years time.

I doubt if they would even consider an industrlized setting for the show. Whatever they do they will keep the medieval setting. That’s why all proposed ideas, as well as the one that was greenlit, were prequels.

What I want more than anything is a Dunk and Egg series. I want to see The Laughing Storm (Lyonel Baratheon) on the screen, I want to see a snotty nose 4 year old Walder Frey, I want to see Lady Rohan Webber and know if it is she who is the ancestor of Brienne of Tarth (GRRM has confirmed that Dunk is her ancestor). I also want to see Duncan the Tall meet The She-Wolves of Winterfell which is meant to occur in the next novella. I want to know if he got a young ‘Old Nan’ pregnant and therefore is also an ancestor of Hodor.

This gets my vote as well, especially now that television technology has caught up with our imaginations and can easily and realistically render multiple dragons at a time. I would love to visit that world, ending with its ruin.

I still need to sit down and read those stories. I think I bought the most recent collected addition awhile back but just haven't gotten to it.

^^^ One of the problems with doing an Dunk and Egg series is to find an actor capable of playing Dunk. Dunk is only 18 or so at the start of the books and there is problems with aging him up too much as he is a squire to a hedge knight. He is also almost 7 foot tall.

I suppose it could be done as an an animated series.

None of that is a problem, make him older, shorter and drop him being a squire at the start. Or just cast a guy in his early to mid 20s to play 18.

His height is the most important trait about Duncan the Tall, it was what he was famous for especially as it is a trait he is meant to pass down through at least a few generations of his descendants. If they make him shorter ie less than about 6 ft 8 or so I think it will ruin in character.

Kind of like casting Tyrion with a five-foot-seven man because it's "too much of a pain" to cast a good actor of Tyrion's short stature.

But Peter Dinklage is quite attractive while Tyrion in the books is described as disfigured and ugly.

Duncan doesn't have to be 7 foot tall, I don't see now that is an important trait.

Except Tyrion's perceived beauty isn't a defining trait (his disfigured face from the Battle of the Blackwater is commented on but that's it), whereas his dwarfism is a critical component of his character. I haven't read the Dunk and Egg stories, but it sounds like Dunk's height may play a similar (but not inherently equal) role.

Duncan is an orphan who has no idea who his parents were so maybe his great height will be the clue to whom his parents were. It is also a clue to whom his descendants are. GRR Martin says that 4 of Duncan descendants have so far appeared in the ASOIAF books, and he has confirmed that Brienne is one. I have my own pet theory about how Brienne is descended from Dunk.

Though we are only three books in I do think that his height is very important as is also the phrase ‘as thick as a castle wall’.

I lost interest in Aryas arc after she reached Braavos, almost to the point of annoyance every time she was screen. Before that she was one of my favourite characters.
