Your "good deeds" of the day...

Zulu Romeo

World Famous Starship Captain
Admiral
I have not had a very good week. Aggravation here, changes in work there, things forgotten somewhere, bad thoughts elsewhere - it's not been good at all.

So what do I have in front of me to greet me when I get home today? My car unable to get back to its parking space due to another car stuck on the driveway, unable to get started.

Grumbling, I park my car a few metres away from where it usually rests, get out, lock the car, then I proceed to march up to the other car where a man and (presumably) his wife are struggling with their car.

What do I do? I'm tired, mean, very hungry, wanting to get indoors and get relaxed.... so I I help them get moving again, that's what I do.

Their car's ignition couldn't work, and they had tried everything, from pushing the car forward to jump-start it, to resorting to jump leads. The man (whom I had never met before) suggested pushing the car backwards to try and jump-start the engine again, so I helped them push the car backwards. It worked. The couple thanked me, and I moved indoors to my home.

The strangest thing about it? I felt angry, I felt tired, I just wanted no further hassle today... but I couldn't help but want to help these two people get their engine running once more. It made me feel good.

So. What has been your good deed for today? Share the love of your sharing of the love. :)

Haven't been out of the house today, so I haven't had even the opportunity to help out anybody (I did feed my cat, but I do that every day, so I doubt that would count).

However, in light of your state of mind after a less than stellar week, it was very nice of you to help people, especially strangers, in a fix.

I've haven't left the house yet today, either. But I will eventually.

I try to treat people decently--the way I would like to be treated--wherever I am.

Sorry you had a crap day, ZR. You were decent, though, in not unloading your frustration on that couple. Helping them out was a very kind thing to do.

You get a Gold Star from your Auntie Hill today. :)

I like this thread. It always makes me feel good to help some one out, and maybe sharing will encourage more people to do good deeds! Sometimes I get annoyed at the lack of consideration I see all around me, but I think it is often due to people getting lost in themselves and not noticing others rather than any maliciousness, laziness, or rudeness on their parts.

I don't have a good deed yet for the day, but recently I did push a one-legged woman up a big hill in her wheel chair because she was too tired to get to the bus stop. She said a half dozen people had passed her by without even looking at her when she tried to get their attention.

I think I'll make an effort to do at least one good deed a day. :)

It's a good philosophy to have. :) Me, I've decided to do a good deed every time I feel life has been tough and unfair to me, in the hope that it will make me feel better about life in general.

I like to think I do good deeds every day, but because I'm not a giant douche, I just consider them regular deeds.

I didn't thump several customers who thoroughly deserved it, and I stayed half an hour extra at work because my co-worker turned up late to replace me.

I expect the second one counts somewhat more than the first.

I DIDN'T shove my foot up my co-worker's ass.

I'm suddenly reminded of that famous saying about how evil triumphs when good people do nothing... ;)

I went food-shopping to pick up some special bits and pieces to go toward preparing a dinner for my friend who's coming over tomorrow. She loves being cooked for, so I know it will make her feel good. I on the other hand don't always enjoy cooking that much, so I will count it as my good deed for the day. :D

I wasn't particularly wonderful or particularly awful today. However, a woman from a previous class of mine emailed me to see how I have been doing, and invited me to meet up with her and two other women from class sometime after work and whatnot.

It doesn't seem like a big deal, but the three of them have much more in common with each other, were closer during the class (and clearly stayed in touch after), and I thought it was sweet of her to try and include me even if I'm a bit of the odd one out. I might even take her up on her offer!

I didn't kill the neighbor's dog for shitting in my yard. And I desparately wanted to.
