Your FIVE!

Basil Fawlty
George Costaza (With a nod to Jerry Stiller's hilarious role as his father, as well)
Larry David as himself
Fox Mulder
Homer Simpson

Eh.

Dexter Morgan, Dexter
Niles Crane, Frasier
Frasier Crane, Cheers, Frasier
Diane Chambers, Cheers

...

I don't watch a lot of television. Maybe given time I could revise the list or something. Don Draper will probably be up there after more Mad Men, uhhh... hmm. Runners up are various, Jay Sherman from The Critic.

Time to bash, I hate a good chunk of the idiot characters mentioned in this thread

Dexter Morgan, Dexter

Over-rated show, not half as dark, scray or funny as people hyped it to be.
Switched off - BORING
It's not even as remotely as scray as I'd hoped. Actually it's not really a scary series either - dark, sometimes very so, yes, creepy maybe in places, but scary? Hm.

By god it's hilarious though.

Oh yeah, Moore forgets that the one thing enduring about Trek is the characters...

Moore may have screwed up, but that's not the same thing as not knowing characters are important. I think he got that memo; it'd be fairer to say he turns a blind eye to the importance of tech, or that you dislike how he handled the characters.

A tv series that's watchable, that's what I want
no not Fringe, not "Lost", good television
Quite true, however.

Niles Crane Frasier
[...]
For me, favorites also have to stand the test of time. Therefore no "flavors on the month" in my list.
Niles Crane has stood the test of time already? Egad I feel old.
