Love the list..and I totally agree with Desmond on Lost (and Locke too)..but Desmond came out of no where, and I think is the best actor on that show...

Damn.....this is gonna be hard. I'm not even going to try to do this logically. I'm just going to name five that come to my head at this moment.

Number 6 from The Prisoner - This is interesting because we never learn a great deal about number 6. who was he? either way, Patrick Mcgoohan gave an amazing performance, Manic and paranoid, but intelligent enough to sometimes claim small victories over his new society. You couldn't take your eyes off him.

Albert Rosenfeld from Twin Peaks - There are at least three or four Twin Peaks characters that belong here (Cooper, Gordon Cole, Leland) but I'll choose a supporting player instead of one of the leads like Agent Cooper.

this about covers it

seriously, what an asshole:lol:

Hawkeye from M*A*S*H - Single greatest television comedy ever. Alan Alda was at the center of the show week to week, so I'll give a nod to him. Everyone in this cast deserves praise however.

Dexter in Dexter - The show and character is just like nothing else on Television.

Gene Hunt from Life on Mars / Ashes to Ashes - It is a testament to this character that Ashes to Ashes even exists. I have no doubt that the idea of doing a sequel was on the notion of bringing back Gene Hunt, who is awesome. I will make a bold statement and say that Gene Hunt is the Best TV cop ever.:)

Buffy Summers(BtVS)
Spike(BtVS)
Clark Kent(Smallville)
Hugo "Hurley" Reyes(Lost)
Phoebe Buffay(FRIENDS)

Jetfire(Any And All Transformers)

Thomas Magnum from Magnum, PI
Avon from Blake's 7
Hawkeye Pierce from M*A*S*H
Number 6 from The Prisoner
Dexter from Dexter

Honorable mentions:
Al Swearengen from Deadwood
Locke from LOST
Daniel Jackson from SG:1
Alan Shore from Boston Legal

Mike Torello -Crime Story. Torello to punk armed robber: "Hey you! You hurt anybody else, and when this is over I'm going to find what you love the most and I'm gonna kill it. Your Mother, your Father, your dog…Don't matter what it is…it's dead".

John Crichton - Farscape.

G'Kar- Babylon 5.

David Addison- Moonlighting.

Frank McPike - Wiseguy.

honorable mentions: Rick Hunter-Hunter, Sydney Bristow-Alias, Jack Bauer-24, and John Munch-Homicide, Law and Order SVU and many others.

The Doctor
Number 6/John Drake (yes I know a lot of people don't think they're the same character, but I like 'em both and this lets me cheat the 5!)
Al Swearingen from Deadwood
Blackadder
Wilma Deering

Honorable mentions: Jack Harkness, Aeon Flux, Sidney Bristow, Jaye from Wonderfalls, Simon Templar, John Steed

Alex

1. Bob Hartley - The Bob Newhart Show

Ducky (NCIS)
Richard Castle (Castle)

Honorary mention:

because there are several thousand forums on this site dedicated to TREK...and if i opened it up to trek characters, it would be just another trek thread....TV/Media is about as neutral forum on this site...
