Your favourite Starfleet uniform?

I quite like the TOS series uniforms, although I really like the variation they came up with for 'Beyond'. The First Contact uniforms were really sharp, though, and I liked the Enterprise uniforms. Still, though, it's hard to beat TOS. I liked the monster maroons a lot growing up, but I feel like they've really started to look dated lately.

I guess for me it is a tie between the Wrath of Khan forward red uniforms and the season three(?) TNG uniforms.

Hated the Voyager ones, and those Godawful First Contact onward TNG drab winter coat things are Godawful.

The ST: TMP ones are quite unappealing as well.

On a different tangent I think my least favourite uniform is the Captain Kirk jacket in Star Trek V / Scotty's in ST3/4 - I just don't like it although I'm supportive of the go climb a rock shirt ;)

The Monster Maroons are my favorite, I think.

(With ENT's unis as a close second.)

That said, I've always wanted a TOS-style uniform in black. In my head canon, that's what the Starfleet Marines of that time period have chosen to wear. And by the time of TWOK? A black version of the Monster Maroons. :techman:

1. TOS season 3, when they switched from velour to the jersey fabric.
2. TMP, specifically Kirk's admiral uniform and Decker's blue uniform.
3. Star Trek Beyond
4. ENT (seriously, they're awesome)
5. First Contact

TOS, ENT, 09 and Beyond. I like the short sleeve variant from TMP, but not the rest. Don't care for the Monster Maroons or any of the 24th Century uniforms.

For me, it is a hard choice between DS9 outfits and the uniforms first seen in First Contact. When it all said and done, I choose DS9 outfits as my favorite. First Contact second and the final version of TNG outfits third. All good things unfits were great.

Slightly off topic, I can't wait to "purchase" these uniforms in the order listed above on Star Trek Online. Not counting First Contact uniforms of course for obvious reasons.

Not a fan of the show but I liked the ENT uniforms.

The voyager/early ds9 ones grew on me but not #1.
I don't like the First Contact ones. (especially the 'waiter' white dress uniform)
The grays look heavy shouldered and reminds me of economy car upholstery

I always lived the Maroons as well as the First Contact uniforms, but recently they are both starting to look dated especially the bloused trouser leg/boots on the Maroons and both look really heavy for use aboard a ship. I think the RDM Battlestar did a good take on how those WOK-TUC uniforms could have been altered into a more practical working uniform which keeps the "dress" look (though look at modern day Navies and you often see the officers in the same uniforms as the rest of the crew).

Always loved the TOS uniforms as they were from the show I fell in love with in the 80's/90's thanks to BBC2 repeats, then there is the 2009 uniform which I loved when I first saw them but now not so much (stretchy material and overuse of the delta) and even though I didn't like them when I first saw them I think the Beyond update is far better. Its a smarter looking uniform but looks like it shouldn't be too uncomfortable compared to most Trek uniforms, has the iconic colour scheme and gives the ladies in the crew a good variation and does away with the daft short sleeves (seeming some extras in the first 2 wore long sleeve dresses and tunics I don't know why they couldn't have had Uhura or Marcus do the same).

I'd usually day the late TNG era as I quite liked the neutral, darker colours and undershirt combo. It was also quite nice to get extra detailing, not just in the shoulders, but the cuffs and such. Little details make all the difference - and it looked good in both the jumpsuit and two-piece forms.

However.... I honestly think the Beyond style has topped it....

^ Spoiler tagged it so save a big bulky space, but.... it's elegant, comfortable and simple with just the right amount of detailing so as not to be overboard.

Huge improvement on the original version and feels like a semi-formal shirt. Absolutely perfect update fifty years on.

Love the look of your Scotty uniform, how much of an effort was that to make? Would love one of those myself and have been considering the Anovos offering.

I actually really like this jacket, it actually fixes some of the issues with the Maroons being so heavy and uncomfortable looking, though STV when Kirk wears one also highlights the problem I have with the pants at their worst.

Right now as a top 5 I would say

5. Monster Maroons
4. First Contact
3. TOS
2. Enterprise
1. Beyond

My favorite Starfleet Uniforms are: TNG season 4-7, the secondary uniforms (DS9 season 1-4 & Voyager), the current uniforms (DS9 season 5-7 & First Contact to Nemesis), and the possible future uniforms (TNG season 7 "All Good Things", that episode I don't remember, and Voyager Season 7 "Endgame".

I have to say - I am a fan of the maroon ensembles from "The Wrath of Kahn" (and follow on movies). Those looked like something functional and important. Not a jumpsuit or Spandex body suit.

When I saw those outfits; the layered jackets, turtle neck collars, etc., it made me realize that, yes, indeed, outer space is cold, and try as they might, the Enterprise is in that environment and those uniforms served to protect and balance the body temperature when the ship could not. At least that was what registered with me when I watched the movie.

The uniforms in Beyond, the TOS movie uniform and the TNG uniforms -- both incarnations -- find favour with me.

The DS9/Voyager jump suits don't find much favour with me. Nor do the later uniforms.

I thought the same - but oddly.... I saw BSG's were a more practical/downgraded version of the awkward AGT uniform.

It's one of the easiest I've made so far. But.... I've made about five of them now, and I sew a lot, so it's hard to judge :/

The only part I found tricky was the cuffs at first as they looked awful first time round and I had to find a new way to make them so they'd look half decent (and there's still a few wobbles on that one). But that was the only stumble.

Not seen an Anovos one in person yet so not sure how they turned out. But it's a hard one to mess up!

Yeah, space is cold, but there's nothing to conduct heat away, either. If your spacecraft is insulated enough to keep you alive, you'll have to actively do something to get rid of excess heat building up inside. Maintaining short-sleeve conditions should be no problem.

I like the trim cut of TOS Season 3 uniforms, but prefer the sheen of the fabric from the first two seasons (the real-world stuff was hard to work with, but of course in-universe it would have been just fine).

I've always thought these look cool.
Always thought they should've been the Voyager uniforms.

For me though, I'd say:

1) TWOK-TUC uniforms

2) TMP uniforms

3) TNG post season three uniforms

4) First Contact unfoirms

The rest I don't really care about be honest. The TOS uniforms were too basic 40 years ago, let alone now.
