As far as other the TV/movie animals I remember from my childhood go

Flicker (Horse) - OK

Do you mean Flicka?

Gentle Ben (bear) - hated him

Imagine how Clint Howard (Ron Howard's brother) must have felt, having to play second fiddle to a bear!

Maya the Elephant - liked her but liked the two boys who rode around India on her better

I vaguely remember that show. It was Jay "Dennis the Menace" North's attempt to transition to teen/young adult roles. Unfortunately for Jay, the elephant had the best lines.

I was reliably informed by my sister that when I was 5, I could do a spot-on impersonation of Roland Rat. It haunted my childhood forever (for a year or so).
