I never thought that much of Hal, the stories I liked Hal in back int he late 80's/early 90s had him being right and level headed over Guy. I couldn't stand Guy. Hal by himself, pre-Johns massive retcon was a boring guy imo.

John was flawed and had a massive burden he knew and felt he had to atone for every day. I was one of, probably, only 18 people who bought, read and enjoyed his first solo series GL:Mosaic.
He then late 90's got his time in the sun as the featured GL in the cartoon.

My runner-up would be Kyle. Tough choice for me between the two. I also agree this should be in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy forum.

I was one of the other 17, at least for a few issues. For some reason, I stopped collecting about 10 issues or so in. A few years ago, I hunted down the series again and I think I'm only missing an issue or two. I really loved the way Jones weaved in philosophy into the comic and while most (all?) of it is forgotten and/or retconned, it was a great way to showcase John.

I'd give a higher ranking to DCAU John than DCU or even New 52 John. I just feel that since Mosiac, writers really haven't found anything interesting to do with him.
