Your favorite thing about EACH of the "Star Trek" incarnations

To be honest, the only thing keeping me from doing something like this is how serious the mods seem about anti-troll security. If this place were as lax as DeviantArt's forums, I'd be having the time of my life with all the different ways to troll my fellow Trekkies.

Your restraint is admirable.

Keep it up.

That's definitely among my favourite things about Star Trek, and indeed, the Lego Movie :P

TOS: Tons of charm, humour and adventure. I love its 60's look. So many episodes are good solid scifi, and will never age. Spock.

TNG: It was brave enough to be its own thing. From the characters, the ship and the new races, TNG never felt like a rehash, and therefore succeeded on its own terms.

DS9: Story arcs allowing for a richer universe. Very strong ensemble cast. Found its feet quickly.

VOY: Great premise. Superb ship design. The Doctor.

Enterprise: I find the late 21st to 22nd century to be a fascinating time period. It's Star Trek but it's also more familiar. They did a great job of conveying the pioneering days of early interstellar exploration. Inferior technology, inexperienced crew, the first two seasons are great fun. The NX-01, whilst not being what I was expecting is a superb design inside and out. The fourth season is awesome.

DSC: Has opened up Trek to new possibilities. The universe seems more alien and strange. I love the characters, who, whilst flawed, still strive toward the Star Trek ideal, despite being in an era that is dealing with a brutal war. That characters like Burnham can fall so far and still make speeches about trying to live up to the starfleet code makes her that much more compelling - as with DS9, it's easy to be a saint in paradise. The USS Discovery design manages the seemingly impossible task of making the simple geometric shapes of the TOS era work for a 21st century audiences. I'm shocked that it was apparently designed by committee. Saru can never have too much screen time. Mirror Universe!

TOS: The relationship between Kirk, Spock and McCoy. I'll never get tired of them, regardless of who's playing the characters.

TNG: Picard and all his philosophy. Seriously. The character was literally like a pseudo-mentor to me.

DS9: The one Star Trek where there wasn't any main characters I didn't dislike.

VOY: I'd follow Janeway to hell and back... as long as there's coffee. I love that character.

ENT: The fact that it's set closer to our time.

DSC/DIS/STD: Well, the visuals are pretty damn sweet. The uniforms are cool too.

Kelvin Timeline: Just the fact that having other actors playing those iconic characters, and it actually worked, is beyond amazeballs.

TOS: everything. But especially the social commentary.

TNG: Guinan. There are so many great things about TNG, but Guinan is my favorite Star Trek character.

DS9: setting it on a station, not a ship. And the addition of more serialized story telling.

VOY: the additional diversity, Native American and Hispanic characters are rarely represented in American media. Also setting it away from the federation, so they are truly alone.

ENT: I've only seen a couple episodes, but I kinda like the uniforms.

DSC: haven't seen it but I kinda like the idea of the main character not being the captain.

TOS: The whole package
TNG: The evolution; going from redoing TOS episodes or unique-to-TNG eps that have a TOS-like feel to redefining/expanding the franchise
DS9: Sisko & Dax, Odo and Quark, Bashir, Garak. Being more TOS-like (wagon train/outpost). The Dominion war. Character conflict. Garak again!
VOY: Tuvok, and Seven's learning humanity. And unique-to-VOY stories that TNG couldn't do, mostly due to distance
ENT: Season 4, largely.
DIS: The serious tone is easily the best thing about it, ditto for main character not being captain (but the captain still needs to be the glue for those under said captain's command and Lorca's been increasingly off-putting.)

TOS Movies: The sense of continuing adventure, expanding what TOS did to an epic, theatrical level while keeping basic character tenets going.
TNG Movies: The odd-numbered entries feel truer to TNG and not just genre action films
Kevin Timeline Movies: Spock and McCoy. "Beyond" is the best of the bunch.

ENT - Porthos.
TNG - grew up with it. It got better from season 2 onwards.
TOS - The interactions between Spock and McCoy. Stories with meaning. Timeless. Nostalgia.
DS9 - Unexcepted turns and twists. Character development. The best foes.
VOY - Sense of family and friendship. Finally a female captain who appreciates the strengths and weaknesses of each single crew member and who would glady give her live for each of them (except your name is Joe Carey).

I haven't seen any DIS episodes yet, so I can't judge it.

TOS: It lacks the simpering of later series -- very much Horatio Hornblower in space.
DS9: It introduced me to Sinatra's music. It was deeper than the rest, by a huge margin.
Tng: Patrick Stewart.
Voyager: Jeri Ryan's singing voice.
Enterprise: The uniforms, which were so functional as to be believable.
JJ Abrams movies: Eh....they're funny.
Discovery: Never seen it.

TOS:
The Kirk-Spock-McCoy Trinity. Bones' constant humanity. And, duh, Uhura's singing! Klingons, Romulans, & Tribbles. The best movies: Wrath of Kahn. Voyage Home. Undiscovered Country.

TNG:
For sparking the revival of the franchise. My fav by a hair in terms of TV. Picard & Data are stellar. The Borg. Cardassians. Bajorans. Mrs. Troi. Q. Ensign Ro as the first shade of grey character. Whoopi. Yesterday's Enterprise. The Inner Light. There. Are. Four. Lights.

DS9:
Bravely going darker. Political intrigue. Serialization. Terry Farrell. Trill. In the Pale Moonlight. A real try at romance with Kira/Odo & Dax/Worf. Cleaning up the Ferengi. Dukat & Garrick.

Voyager:
A woman captain! Janeway & Seven. New aliens. More Borg.

Enterprise:
Scott Bakula. Shran. Andorians. T'Pol. The Vulcan arc. Hoshi going from wimp to badass.

Abrams films:
Breathing life into the franchise again. Drawing out the Spock/Uhura relationship hinted at early. Success of these films lead to Discovery.

Discovery:
Lorca. Michelle Yeoh. Going darker. Captain Killy. First gay couple. Harcourt Fenton Mudd part deux. Doug Jones. Mary Chieffo.

TOS: The bright colors, and the childlike innocence.

Classic Films: The Enterprise, the special effects and music, and the sets and costumes. The characters really shone here as well.

TNG: Practically everything.

DS9: The Drama, and the epic scope.

VOY: A few episodes around the middle of the show, and not much else.

ENT: The first two seasons, and TATV (an unpopular opinion, but it is what it is LOL)

Kelvin Timeline Films: Just the fact that they brought back Star Trek is enough, but special mention goes to Into Darkness for taking risks that, IMO payed off.

Discovery: The plot and the characters.
