Your Favorite ENT Characters

I'm just glad they had Cutler die heroically during the third season by saying she was one of the 27 deaths aboard the ship during the Expanse mission. Waymire was already deceased by that point so she could never have made another appearance even to get killed off, but at least B&B didn't forget about her character.
Shame on me for never really noticing this, but did the Beebs at least have the decency to dedicate an episode to Waymire? I don't remember that...

Nope. Not one "In Memoriam" title card or anything. I guess we should just be glad the writers mentioned her character died during the Xindi mission. At least we know she was a heroic sacrifice if nothing else was ever said or shown about her or the actress.

Man, such unbelievable assholes... And they wonder why fans didn't like them...

B&B didn't put a memorial card or a tribute in a VOYAGER episode in 1999 when DeForest Kelley died, either. De Kelley. One of the select few actors who embodied practically all of STAR TREK. I remember more than a few people being made about that too.

I don't want to make excuses for B&B, but I thought I read somewhere that they wanted the crewman to "live on." I think that's nicer than believing she died. Awww. I liked her, and I'd like to believe she continued.

From my vantage point, I think they've been very caring about deaths in the sci-fi realm and in space travel. They named ENT's Columbia after the shuttle that blew up. They gave everyone some time off and a note in one of the episodes about one of the beloved folks on the television crew dying.

Fair enough, but in a Season 3 episode Cutler(Waymire)was spoken of by Archer or Trip has being a fatality of the Expanse mission. A way of writing the late actress off the show postmortem.

Cooleddie, I don't recall that. Which episode? And do you have the dialogue handy?

Not readily available, but in one late Xindi season episode Archer or Phlox mention "Crewman Cutler" as one of the fatalities in the Expanse and lament the deaths on the mission.

It'd be interesting to see if someone can find it. I don't remember hearing it. Then again, as the years pass and the time passes since having seen episodes, my memory gets worse.

I didn't remember a mention of Cutler dying either, so I did some checking.

From Memory Alpha:
In 2153, Cutler was apparently working in the exobiology lab when
she suffered a broken arm due to a manifested spatial anomaly
(which was the result of Enterprise's voyage through the Delphic
Expanse). (ENT: "Rajiin")

Crewman Elizabeth Cutler was played by the late Kellie Waymire
until her sudden death in November 2003. It is not known whether
the character was to have appeared in later episodes as she had not
appeared in any episodes of the series' second season, although
Cutler was mentioned in an episode in Enterprise's third season.

From "Rajiin," the first scene between Archer and Phlox in sickbay:
Phlox: I hope he's correct. Crewman Cutler broke her arm when one of those spatial anomalies went through the Exo-biology lab. The
sooner the ship is insulated against these phenomena the happier I will be.

"Rajiin" filmed in August of 2003 and aired on October 1. Kellie passed in mid-November.

From trekweb.com, January 2004 (around the time of "Azati Prime" filming):
Asked about the tragic passing of actress Kellie Waymire
('Elizabeth Cutler') last year, Berman says the staff is discussing
ways to honor her.

"We had hoped that Kellie would come back as well. We have
discussed some way of honoring her and we'll be looking into that
in the next few weeks."
But I don't remember her being mentioned, and Memory Alpha only has the "Rajiin" reference.

Maybe they mentioned her in a scene, but it was cut. Do the Season 3 DVD's say anything?

Commander Charles Anthony Tucker III by far is my favorite Star Trek character. A close second favorite character is T'Pol.

I am 95-99% sure Cutler is mentioned as being a fatality in the Expanse. One of the 27. Things like that tend to stick in one's head for a while, especially after the actor playing the character dies in real life. There's ALWAYS the chance I could be mistaken, but I even recall a thread in the Enterprise forums from 2004 that dealt with or mentioned Cutler's death in the Expanse...as being a convenient way in-universe to deal with Kellie Waymire's passing.

I've been through the transcripts of season 3 and the only mention of Cutler I could find was in "Rajiin".

Must be deleted footage or cut lines in a script then. I doubt I misheard this, even if its not in official, finished edits of any episode any longer.

I think Crewman Cutler was the best reccuring character in trek.

She was so good at her interactions, and there was really a point to her character. shame she had to die, as I would of loved more Cutler episodes.

There is an interview with her on the official trek site, it's quite interesting, just search for her on there.

A shame she left ENT for that uber-crappy failed sitcom that got axed after just a few weeks. She could have stayed on ENT until her passing had she known how big a turd that PITTS sitcom was going to be. Crap, even DESMOND PFEIFFER lasted longer and got bigger numbers.

I hadn't thought about the character of Ens. Cutler until I rewatched the series from the beginning recently. I agree with those that consider her character a strong support to the main cast. After reading the entries on this thread pertaining to her - I am surprised that there wasn't an onscreen memorial to her similar to Jerry Fleck when he passed.

Kellie was very natural in her role and played very down-to-earth. I, too, would've liked to have seen more episodes that featured her in some capacity. I suppose, at least, if she was mentioned as one of those that passed in the battles of the Xindi saga, that was something, at the very least closing the door on her character in universe. If they didn't even do that much, that sucks.
