This isn't a "which is better" issue. It's simply trying to get something of a measure of the pulse of people's fan support.

We' re all on the TBBS (and other sites) because of iur interest in Star Trek. Yet with that said each of our individual extent of fan support varies. Some might only like one series and nothing else. Some might like a few series and a few films and little to nothing else. Some might happen to like everything although not necessarily equally.

So the poll doesn't tell us which series and/or films you like, but rather how much (or how little) of it appeals to you.

As for specific preverences that is left for you to state (if you wish) in your posts.

Obviously there are no right or wrong answers. If (by some chance) you liked only one film or one series or one-and-one together that still qualifies as some. And if you don't like any of it then it goes without saying you're highly unlikely to be participating on this site.

For myself although I prefer one series (TOS) and one film (TMP) above the rest there are things I do like sufficiently in other series (TAS and TNG) and a few of the other films. So I would have to say I like some of the series and some of the films.

Nothing produced in the franchise approaches the quality of something classic like Hamlet, nor does any of it get anywhere near anything as reviled as say, Dude Where's My Car.

I therefore support the common sense approach and appreciate all of them equally, sometimes because of or despite their flaws.

In terms of financial "support," I've bought officially licensed merchandise -- Books, DVDs, Vhs tapes, posters, Blu-Rays, toys, and paid for movie tickets to every film since Undiscovered Country.

I for one don't wear uniforms and Spock ears. But I've already attended Star Trek lectures at Universities.

I put some of my money into Star Trek novels, but I don't buy or read everything although I'm a collector. I have approximately 460 Star Trek novels (both in English and in German). My farvorite series are: DS9, Voyager, TOS and TNG. I like the movies I-X, but not the new ones. One day I like to attend a Con in Germany (FedCon if it's possible).

So you can say that I am a huge fan.

I like some of the series (TOS, TNG, DS9) and all (well, all but one) of the films.

As far as other "support," I've never been to a convention, never belonged to a fan club (local or otherwise), stopped reading the novels ages ago, and it's been years since I've bought any merchandise apart from the home media releases of the Abrams films.

But hey, I post here. :p

side note: I love your avatar, Warped9. I remember poring over the beautifully illustrated pages of National Geographic's Our Universe as a child. I'm sure much of it is woefully outdated now, but it was a great book for its time.

Some series, some films. But to anyone who likes all or none of them, more power to ya!

I would say though, that I expect the TV shows to be more character driven and focused (which they tend to be) and I go to the movies to watch Trek adventures that are too grand for television (ditto). If an episode or film fails to do that, then it's going into my dislike file.

There was a time that I ate, drank, breathed and slept anything Star Trek. Now? I watch TOS, the TOS and Abrams films. Everything else is pretty much in stasis where I'm concerned. Don't know when, or if, it'll ever come out.

Thanks. The avatar ia a cropped scan of the painting from one of my two John Berkey art books. The actual painting extends far to the left of what you see in my avatar.

I was pretty much like that until the late '80s. The cracks of discontent started to appear with TVH and TFF as well as with TNG. During the '90s I started to sour on certain aspects of Trek and after initially trying DS9 I drifted away. My purchasing of novels also dropped off drastically.

Today my Star Trek interests are TOS and TMP and elements of TAS and some of the films. I used to be vehemently anti-TNG, but I've greatly softened on that since revisiting the series and enjoying parts of the early seasons. My tie-in merchandise interests are strictly TOS related.

The TNG films, VOY and ENT, and the nuTrek films are simply off my radar. For now new Star Trek for me is awaiting each next Star Trek Continues episode.

Personally, I think DWMC is a fairly entertaining flick, though admittedly one you have to be in the right mood to appreciate.

I'd rather watch DWMC a dozen times over than watch ANIS or Threshold again. The former makes me laugh; the latter...make me laugh in different ways.

Then there's The Alternative Factor, but I'm trying to avoid taking overly-cheap shots.

I find ENT and VOY generally inferior to the other series, and I doubt anyone truly likes all of the films equally, but each series has its own superb episodes as well.

For me, it's all about TNG. It's the equation that works. The rest of the franchise is like Bonus Material - it's just gravy. In that sense, perhaps I do like all of STAR TREK more-or-less the same. And I would love to see STAR TREK on the small screen some way, again. I can't get into Fan Films, the ones with actual TREK actors are the most embarrassing to watch, probably. So, there is this desire I have to see more of STAR TREK, especially since the TNG universe was such a broad canvas. TNG, DS9 and VOY all devoted to the 24th Century and each having completed a successful 7 year run on television. I can't help but see STAR TREK as a bumper crop harvest. I understand the suits' standpoint at CBS that they're not going to saturate 'the market' and there's no need to. But as a fan of STAR TREK in the 24th Century, my view is that there's always supposed to be "a lot" of it. Being made to do without, like this ... it's not good for the soul! No good, at all ...

I went with all of the series and some of the films, but only because I didn't feel that the options weren't granular enough: what I really would have liked to say was that I like some of the episodes from all of the series (but not all from any), and some of the movies.

There are facets from all the shows that I like. Enterprise has a certain aesthetic that I enjoy, as does Voyager, which are series that I am otherwise lukewarm too.

TOS is where it is at for me, followed by DS9. Partially because of the leaders, especially Sisko, and partially because I love the more frontier sense that I get from the setting. Abrams films, as a different take on TOS, also interests me due to the setting and the characters.

As for franchise support, I've done the costuming thing, I've done the fan fiction thing, and I've participated in online RPG writing. I enjoy much of the merchandising and props, and the like, and always like seeing what the thing to come out will be. I hope to purchase a Star Trek Into Darkness black shirt with the subdued logo on it so I can wear it every day.

Probably one of my favorite parts of the franchise is fan creations. I enjoy art, costumes, props and the like created by fans to explore their favorite franchise. To me, it adds a lot more life to seemingly innocuous details of a production.

Overall, I voted like some, don't like others, mostly because I sit somewhere in between on some of it. But, really, I like a part of all of Trek, even if it is as simple as a ship design.

"I like some of the series and some of the films."

It probably would have been all the films, except INS makes me cringe.

The only entire series I own is ENT. I'd like to get TOS but money is an issue.
I like some of DS9 but I don't like all the actors and it does plod sometimes. Although the Berman-era shows mostly do little for me, for some reason I really like the TNG movies - except the aforementioned instance, which embodies the weakest qualities of the TV series for me.

I like some of the series and some of the films.

Series: I like TOS, TAS, and TNG. DS9 and VOY are more hit or miss. ENT is mostly miss.

Film: TMP, TWOK, TSFS, TVH, FC, STXI, and STID are upper tier. The rest are lower tier. If I could somehow lift the first and last acts of TUC out of the rest of it, it would make upper tier, as well.

Although I'm not a fan, I voted that I support all Trek equally. All the series have their turkeys, and some of the movies have their not so fine points, but they are all still highly enjoyable. :)

That's a good point. The thread title and the poll question are not equivalent. One can support things that don't appeal to them personally.

Love TOS, enjoy TNG, absolutely adore DS9...

When it comes to the movies have all the time in the world for the first five. Undiscovered Country I loved when I first saw it, but over the years it's grown to be my almost least favourite, just ahead of Nemesis. I think First Contact is great, the other two TNG movies watchable...

As for the Abrams movies. I enjoy the hell out of them as long as I don't think of them as Star Trek. As soon as that happens, all bets are off and I spend two hours nitpicking and whinging.

Only seen one episode of TAS, and that quite recently. Far too late for me to appreciate. I should have seen it in the seventies. However I did enjoy the novelisations...

Let's see...

Love TNG, VOY, and ENT.

Like TOS.

DS9...meh.

Love the TOS movies, except TMP.

Love the TNG movies, except Nemesis.

Love ST09.

Like STID.

I guess that sums it up. Overall, I enjoy almost everything at some level.

:techman:

Some/some. As Karzak mentioned earlier, it ain't Shakespeare, but it's generally better than a lot of the shit out there. Even Voyager, to some degree. :p

Hmmm...interesting question.

I adore TOS and DS9 as series. I adore TWOK, TMP, and TSFS as movies.

I love TNG as a series. I love TFF, 2009, FC as movies.

I like TVH, STID and NEM as films.

I tolerate VOY and ENT as series. I tolerate TUC and GEN as movies.

I dislike INS as a movie.
