Your Dream Car Part II

1968 Mercury Cougar - long, low and mean as hell

I wanted one of these for the longest time, either a 1967 or 1968 because I just love the body style. I came to my senses after some consideration because American muscle cars are only good for one thing -- go like hell in a straight line. Throw in curves and turns and it's like trying to steer a brick on ice.

I'll stick to funny little European sports cars.

Things haven't changed dramatically since the original thread. While I love the Aston Martin, I would never actually buy one. I'd just buy something that's more modest and reasonable in price, like an Audi S5.

I previously mentioned the new Camaro as a dream car, but I think that ship has sailed. I'm less and less impressed with the vehicle as time goes on. It's still gorgeous but I don't think I'd actually buy one. And they aren't even terribly expensive.

There are so many cars I'd love to own. From the classic Porsche 356, to a modern day 911. Then you have the Ferraris, like the 250 GTO and of course the new 458 Italia. I also love Audi's R8 (coupe) and then there's the new Chevy Camaro. Oh, and of course the most awesome car ever, the Bugatti Veyron. I could easily name another 20 cars btw. :p

However, if I had to pick just one, I'd have the Aston Martin DBS (the V8 Vantage would be a good alternative as well).

I might as well be dreaming...

2010 Ford Edge. Love the color! :bolian:

A more practical vehicle I would like to be driving now...instead of my 93 Thunderbird...to be honest is falling apart and needs more work than I have the patience to deal with.

Oooohhhh, I LOVE that color. I have a friend who is a Ford salesman who hooked me up with a test drive of a 2007 Edge back in February. That vehicle literally glides across the pavement and is smooth as silk. IIRC, The Edge is supposed to get the EcoBoost engine for 2011.

Nothing beats this machine:

Other than that, I don't see any one car as better than any other car. I'm an aircraft guy, not a ground vehicle guy.

^
Well If I could fly or at least be a passenger of an aircraft(?) It would be the SR-71 Blackbird or of course the Space Shuttle(STS).

I have always wanted a '72 Corvette...

Really? Your name would lead me to believe you'd favor the F-14.

That was my dream ride when I was younger. Unfortunately, our Navy was in the business of smaller carriers shortly after I was born so never went for the 14. Before I was born, they did have the F4 in carrier service. They're nice, but I much preferred the 14.

1969 Dodge Charger Daytona
1970 Dodge Challenger convertible w/426 Hemi engine
2008-current Doge Viper w/600hp engine....Maybe some mods like supercharger or dual turbos. Speed is good. :)

I actually really like the Ford Edge. The 2011 model refresh actually looks awesome. Revised exterior, dramatically upgraded interior, new engines. If I were in the market for this kind of vehicle and had $30,000 to drop on a new car, the '11 Edge would probably be it.

My dream cars, in no particular order....

1.) 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am (And yes, I would have it look just like KITT from Knight Rider, lightbar and everything.)

2.) DeLorean DMC-12 (And yes, I would outfit it exactly like the Time Machine DeLorean from Back to the Future.)

3.) 1969 Dodge Charger (But I wouldn't paint it like the General Lee. I'd paint it blue, put an American flag on the top, and name it the General Grant.)

You're my new hero!

You, Sir, are a good man. :techman:

A former girlfriend's dad had a 74(?) Vette and let me drive it down the Interstate. My dad always told me they rode and handled like old lumber trucks, which is absolutely true. Power like no tomorrow, but a horrible ride.

The new Camaro? Meh . . . sorry, doesn't do anything for me.

The Miami Vice Ferrari was actually a replica body built on a Corvette chassis. But you knew that, didn't you?
