What do you have and why do you like it/them?

I have a 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis LS that I bought for $1500 back in June. It had 85,000 on the odometer. We have since put 3,000 miles on it. The dealer near Philly that I bought it from had said that the air conditioning blew ice cold and it doesn't, but there was an unforeseen compensation for that. An unknown previous owner had stashed a bag of coins bought from a coin dealer behind the spare tire and forgotten about it. The dealer did not look over the car well enough to find the bag. Two of the coins included are a 1794 starred reverse large cent and a 1799 large cent with the 9 over the 8. I have been trying to sell those, but so far haven't found the right person, because the condition of both is in the AG to G grade.
Anyhow, this car has given us no problems whatsoever in those 3,000 miles. It drives like new and the engine and transmission have been flawless. It's been a real workhorse, hauling us and a carload of possessions through 5 states and back with no complaints. Hill-climbing power has been very good, even loaded down. Fuel economy has been 20mpg or better. In my opinion, you just can't beat the good old reliable 302 Windsor pushrod V8 and these ancient 'Panther' platform body on frame sedans. My family has had these type of cars with that engine since 1971, when we had a 1968 Custom (stripped down version of the Galaxie) with the carbureted 302.

Egad....this car is the same color scheme as ours!:

:eek::lol:

'02 Dodge Caravan. It was cheap, and it's big enough for my long legs. I secretly hate it.

1999 Toyota Camry LE. Got it 15 months ago. It has 171,000 miles on it, but inside and out it's like it just came off the assembly line. My previous cars had V6 engines, so I was pleasantly surprised to find the Camry's 4-cyl to be really peppy and good on the highway.

'08 BMW 328xi Sport Wagon.

Just got it about 3 months ago and I LOVE it! It's fun, zippy, has navigation, a great sound system (including iPod interface), a HUGE sun roof, fits passengers easily, AND my dogs, sexy (for a wagon - and I needed a wagon for my 2 labs and hauling stuff from Home Depot, etc.), and it gets about twice the mileage of the 10 year old Explorer I traded in on it.

I also like that, by going with a low mileage Certified Pre-Owned instead of new, I saved almost $20K but have the full warranty for 6 years. And I didn't break down in tears the first time I saw a small scratch in the paint.

I'm just hoping the famed BMW x-drive handles the snow and ice as well as it's purported to.

p.s. - Kestra, I LOVE your pic.

Hey Biggles I have the same car, except it's white with a v6 and only 130,000 miles. I've had mine about 6 years and still love it.

2000 Chevy Prizm.

I actually need to replace it soon, things are starting to go.

I have a 2007 Ford Focus hatchback that I've put less than 15,000 miles on in three years. This car will probably outlive me. I like it because it's tall. I could drive it wearing a top hat if I had any reason to.

I have a 2006 Toyota Solara in dark blue (named Gilgamesh). Because I was so busy studying for the Bar, he hasn't needed a refill in six weeks. I like him because he looks great, particularly in that royal blue color.

Hubby drives a 2003 Toyota Highlander in light blue (named Galahad). He was our "not settling" car--at least what we could afford. After buying only what we could afford, we got the V6, power seats, leather interior. He still looks good for 7yo. A few marks inside and out, but I like him.

Neither was affected by the recalls.

White 2000 Toyota Tacoma that my grandpa bought for me in '05. It had 35 000 miles on it then, now it has 88 000. Great little commuter truck: 4 cyl, automatic, A/C, 2WD, about 24 mi/gal. Very comfortable seats, drove it for 2.5 hrs on a road trip and no aching back or cramps in the legs.

Goes 15-20 mph if it idles in 3rd gear, maximum speed that I'm comfortable pushing it is 75 mph.

Forest Green 2000 Ford Focus that I bought new in December of 1999. Local plates: 1701. ;) Has roughly 110,000 miles on it.

Tricky, I love those old Grand Marquis. They are some of the smoothest cars out there. I purchased a blue Crown Vic (very similar car) because I got jealous of the one on Chuck (the tv show)
I paid $400 for it and sold it to someone for $1100
:D

And for those Camry owners, you guys have great cars!

Still got my ole 99 Saab 9-5. Unfortunately the old girl is dying and she's so worn out it's not worth it to try and keep her unless you really ant to do a lot of fixing and upgrading. So we're looking at a Volvo C30 with the new 1.6 diesel as a work car that I can use quite well outside of work. It would be new one and get a lot better mileage.

I need a new one, though. The gears on this baby don't really work properly anymore, and slip a lot when I try to pedal hard.

2005 (or is it '06?) Ford Taurus. It was a hand-me-down, was my dad's business car. I don't particularly love it, but it does what it needs to do and it still works fine.
