your "24" favs

My wife and I are really enjoying going back and re-watching these early seasons of 24. We just started season four after we took two days off at the conclusion of season three.

Season three was emotionally draining. I had forgotten about Ryan Chappel's fate, as well as Sherry's and Nina's. And what Jack had to do to Chase in the last episode...so..we were so drained we had to step back for a couple days.

Anyway, here we are now in season four. We want to get them all in before the final episode of the series but I don't think we will. But here is my list of my favorite all time 24 characters, good guy/gals and bad guys/gals..

Jack is a given because the show really revolves around him...

1. Tony Almeda; I really hope we get to see him one last time before the show ends. I'd love to see him risk his life, and die, while trying to save Jack's life.

2. Sherry; Because of Penny's Sherry I now, and I know its unfair, but I now can't stand to see her on DS9 as Kassidy Yates. I can not seperate her from Sherry she was THAT good. If I were to look up the word BITCH in the dictionary? Her face would be right there...

3. Chloe; she is such a basket case. I would love to see her spinoff into her own show just to see her HOME life.

4. Bill Buchanon; I always liked Bill, and wish he had made it to the final season.

5. Aaron; the Secret Service dude who must be from the 23rd century because he looks like that dude in Generations at helm. His character, probably more so than any character, had a core to him. I wish we could have seen him at a younger age because I think seeing him in the field with Jack would have been interesting.

6. Michelle Dressler; another one I was sad to see leave the show. She and Tony had such an up/down relationship but it was fun to watch.

7. Kim; yes, her perils of pauline plots in the early seasons were silly at times, but she was hot looking and I enjoyed her as a character, for the most part.

8. Audrey; Jack's love interest for a couple years. She was well written I thought.

9. Rene; Jack's most recent love interest who's character morphed so much between this season and last season its hard to believe she was the same person; but she was.

10. David Palmer/Charles Logan; I liked David Palmer and Logan for the opposite reasons. David was always trying to do the best as President, while Logan, well, we all know what Logan did and what he's doing now. You just know Charles Logan is going to have an interesting, shall we say, sawn song, And I predict Jack will have something to do with it...

Those are some of my favorite characters from the classic, YES classic TV show, 24. Yes, it had bumpy stories as times. And perhaps it went on a couple seasons too long. But, all in all, I think 24 entertained me most of the time. Something that later Star Trek series could never claim to do.

I was certainly entertained by "Serbian" terrorists with improbable backgrounds called Victor, Andre and Alexis Drazen (DRAY-zen) :wtf: :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

VIKTOR Виктор m Scandinavian, German, Hungarian, Czech, Slovak, Bulgarian, Russian, Ukrainian, Croatian, Serbian, Slovene
Cognate of VICTOR

ANDREJ m Slovene, Czech, Slovak, Croatian, Macedonian
Cognate of ANDREW / ANDRE

ALEKSANDRA Александра f Russian, Polish, Serbian, Bulgarian, Slovene, Croatian, Macedonian, Estonian
Form of ALEXANDRA

And, just for the heck of it, I Googled Drazen? it is a common Serbian name...so I am not sure of your point..

Um, my point is that there is no way in hell that a Serbian person would be named like that. I am Serbian, I live in Serbia, so trust me, I know better than your Google results.

DRAŽEN is a fairly common Croatian FIRST name, and it is pronounced DRA-zhen. I've never heard of anyone, anywhere, having it as their family name. And "Drazen" pronounced as DRAY-zen isn't the first or last name of anyone or anything from anywhere in the former Yugoslavia.

Viktor is fairly uncommon name for a Serbian person, but it's possible to find people with that name in Serbia (especially if they're ethnic Croats, Hungarians etc.).

However, Andre is definitely not a Serbian, Croatian, Slovenian... name. It is a French name. South Slavic version would be Andrej (pronounced AN-drey), Andreja (AN-dreya) or Andrija (AN-driya).

And Alexis? I have no idea why you bring "Alexandra" up. Aleksandar (m) and Aleksandra (f) are common Serbian names, and so is Aleksa (m), possibly Aleksej (which is a Russian version of the name). But Alexis? If there is anyone in Serbia (or Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia, or anywhere in the former Yugoslavia) who is called Alexis (Aleksis), it could only be a girl born in the 1980s or after whose parents were big fans of Dynasty. :rommie:

(Not that this was the only idiocy in that storyline, which made absolutely no sense. Jack Bauer on Kosovo - when? What? I guess he didn't do fuck all then. I don't remember anyone stopping Milosevic's police and paramilitaries, and the only forces they were up against was the KLA. Until the end of the NATO bombing campaign when Milosevic signed the Kumanovo agreement and Serbian forces left Kosovo, which was left under the protection of NATO/KFOR forces. Stupid Jack Bauer, if he had done his job better, NATO wouldn't have had to bomb us! All-powerful Serbian terrorists out to kill the American president? Who comes up with that stuff?! Has anyone ever heard of USA being in danger from Serbian terrorists? Serbian war criminals/paramilitary groups with state security connection don't give a fuck about American or any other foreign presidents, except abusing them verbally, and whenever Serbian secret police/paramilitaries/criminals assassinated someone, it was Serbian politicians, or Serbian journalists who wrote against the regime. But hey, you can't expect shows like 24 to have anything to do with reality.... Though I wonder why they just don't make it a real SF show with imaginary nations, alien species, etc. Then they could use their imagination, without insulting the viewer's intelligence. But then I guess they wouldn't have gotten the GG and Emmy nominations...)

My point? My point is that you might not see the difference, but I found it absolutely hilarious. Just like you would probably, if you watched, say, a show about a planned assassination of the Russian president by Irish American nationalists called Heinz, Enrique and François Shaquilleloo.
