Young Justice-Tonight!

I find it really elegant storytelling to create Beast Boy by linking him to an existing shapechanger with green skin. Sure beats injecting him with mongoose blood or whatever it was in the original story.

Um, if the blood mimics M'gan's nature, wouldn't the kid have white Martian skin then?

Oddly, genetically White and Green Martians are identical and been interbreeding for thousands of years with ease, that depending on recessive genes, a female can spit out white and green children in the same litter.

At least that's what I've extrapolated from the word "cousins" used every time J'onn has fought the White Martians in DC Comics.

Well, she "morphed" the blood to match a human blood type, so presumably her whole body and blood was already "morphed" to mimic Green Martians on a cellular/genetic level. She's been practicing that one long enough that it's probably a perfect, self-sustaining mimicry, whereas the mimicry of human blood factors was on much shorter notice and probably won't be as stable. How's that for a rationalization? ;)

Nope.

They are two distinct groups presumably engineered from the Burning by the Guardians of the Universe.

You can't take JLA 86 seriously.

JLA started to... No, it didn't start till suck till 91 when Kelly left and it just got weird putting Nightwing in charge of the team... Unreadable bollocks.

(i just read the wiki)

The Burning.

Ye gods.

Besides, this is the new 52, you might as well be talking about the Silver Age, because what I was saying was true, was true, until it was retconned by whimsy, but now everything has been retconned by an entire universal reboot... It's altogether possible that there's a new mythology for the Martians that hasn't been written yet waiting to pounce which has nothing at all to do with "the Burning".

"Sigh"

All sorts of information was revealed about Season 2 at Wondercon the other day. IGN and CBR (this one also talks about GL and the DC Nation shorts) both have articles about the panel, each with slightly different information.
- Season 2 will be a long arc described as "20 chapter novel".
-Barbara Gordon, Gar Logan, and Mal Duncan will become superheros
-New members will join the team, including Blue Beetle and Lagoon Boy.
- The title of the season is Invasion, and it will include nine recognizable alien races, and Lobo.
-The number of featured characters will go up from Season 1's 179 to 241.

Now where can I get me a Shazamwich? Over all a good episode but was the whole White Martian thing explained in earlier YJ stories or are they leading up to something?

Not explained AFAIK. It was hinted at in an earlier episode, when a character commented that Megan looked white (as in pale) and she panicked.

Sounds good to me!

Yes, except actually it was "white" as in Caucasian. Black Canary noted during their therapy session that M'gann had unconsciously changed from her green-skinned appearance to her pink-skinned "Megan" appearance.

Didn't the JLA computer know? Stating it matter of factually early on and the kid that heard the AI say so, didn't understand the context, and even made a comment about racial profiling?

Ah, that was it. And she panicked because she thought Dinah meant "White Martian."

More from the side of toy boxes

2 waterbased heroes? Lagoonboy??? <--found the mole. Someone with that stupid a name can only be up to no good.

Where the hell is Donna Troy/Cassie Sandsmark?

So I'll fess up and admit that I cheated and watched the Brazil-aired episodes with the English subtitles and... wow. A LOT of fantastic stuff IMO upcoming. Can't wait to see it with the proper voices. ;)

Great clip. I'm almost sorry I spoiled myself on it. That last line is such a marvelous summation of the whole Batman-Robin dynamic.
